wiki

wiki is a skill for Claude Code from tboome33/obsidian-mcp-router. It costs 134 tokens per session (2,290 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A setup tool for turning an Obsidian vault into a linked knowledge base that an AI can maintain across sessions. It creates files for the page catalogue, operation history, recent context, and overview.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to start or check an AI-maintained Obsidian wiki and prepare its core tracking files.
Why use it?
It gives future sessions a clear map of the vault and a record of past work, so they can find and build on notes more easily.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00134 $0.02290
Opus 5 $0.00067 $0.01145
Sonnet 5 $0.00027 $0.00458
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00229

Measured 8d ago against content hash 0550ad0964e1, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

wiki scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 114 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

wiki

This skill creates the four scaffolding files at the root of a vault that turn it into a Karpathy-style LLM wiki. The pattern: an LLM ingests sources, files them as wiki pages, and maintains the catalog/log/hot-cache so future sessions can navigate and build on prior knowledge cheaply.

When to use

  • The user has an Obsidian vault and wants Claude to start using it as a knowledge base across sessions.
  • The user asks "/wiki" or "set up the wiki".
  • A vault already has notes but no wiki/ folder, and the user wants to graduate it to a wiki.

When NOT to use

  • The user just wants to write a single note → don't scaffold.
  • The vault already has wiki-meta/catalog.md and looks healthy → suggest wiki-lint instead.
  • The user is asking how the pattern works conceptually → explain, don't scaffold.

Pre-flight

Before scaffolding, you must know:

  1. Which vault to scaffold in. Call mcp__obsidian-router__list_vaults first. If the user said "this vault" without specifying, use the default vault. If multiple vaults are configured, ask which.
  2. Which mode the wiki targets — this affects only the seed of catalog.md and overview.md. Common modes:
    • personal — second brain, journals, projects, references
    • research — papers, concepts, hypotheses, methodology
    • business — competitors, customers, decisions, stakeholders
    • code — codebases, ADRs, runbooks
    • domain — anything else (let the user describe in 1 sentence)

If the user didn't say, ask in one short question. Don't enumerate all modes — give 2-3 likely ones based on context.

Steps

  1. Verify the target vault is online via list_vaults. Bail with a clear message if online: false or missingApiKey: true.

  2. Check whether wiki-meta/catalog.md already exists:

    mcp__obsidian-router__get_file({ vault: <name>, path: "wiki-meta/catalog.md" })

If it returns 200 → the wiki is already scaffolded. Tell the user, offer to run wiki-lint instead. Stop.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

wiki is a skill published in the GitHub repository tboome33/obsidian-mcp-router (1 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 134 tokens to every session and 2,290 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
