laravel-data

laravel-data is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tecbay/laravel-ai-skills. It costs 99 tokens per session (2,564 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Laravel package skill for defining typed data objects with Spatie Laravel Data v4. One data class can describe validated input, API output, internal application data, and generated TypeScript definitions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Creating Laravel data-transfer objects, validating and casting request data, transforming API responses, handling Eloquent models, and generating TypeScript types.
Why use it?
It lets an application describe the same data shape in one place instead of duplicating request validation, API formatting, and frontend type definitions.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00099 $0.02564
Opus 5 $0.00049 $0.01282
Sonnet 5 $0.00020 $0.00513
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00256

Security

Grade A, and why

laravel-data scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Laravel Data (spatie/laravel-data v4)

A data object describes your data once and is used everywhere: as a validated form request replacement (input), as an API resource (output), as a typed DTO inside the app, and as a source for TypeScript definitions.

use Spatie\LaravelData\Data;

class SongData extends Data
{
    public function __construct(
        public string $title,
        public string $artist,
    ) {}
}

Installation & conventions

composer require spatie/laravel-data
php artisan vendor:publish --provider="Spatie\LaravelData\LaravelDataServiceProvider" --tag="data-config"
  • Generate classes with php artisan make:data SongData — default location app/Data, default suffix Data (configurable under commands.make in config/data.php).
  • Keep data classes in app/Data (or add other directories to structure_caching.directories in the config).
  • Prefer constructor promoted properties; plain public properties also work.
  • Two lighter base classes exist: Resource (output only — no validation/authorization, faster) and Dto (input only — no transformation features).

Creating data objects

::from() accepts nearly anything — arrays, Eloquent models, requests, JSON strings, Arrayables, objects:

SongData::from(['title' => 'Never gonna give you up', 'artist' => 'Rick Astley']);
SongData::from(Song::findOrFail($id)); // model attributes, casts, accessors work
SongData::from($request);                 // + validates the request payload
SongData::from('{"title":"...","artist":"..."}');
SongData::optional(null); // returns null instead of throwing

Magical creation methods

Add public static methods starting with from to customize creation per type (must not be named from itself). The best matching method wins over the default normalizers:

public static function fromModel(Song $song): self
{
    return new self("{$song->title} ({$song->year})", $song->artist);
}

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

laravel-data is a skill published in the GitHub repository tecbay/laravel-ai-skills (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 99 tokens to every session and 2,564 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
