saloon-api-sdk

saloon-api-sdk is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tecbay/laravel-ai-skills. It costs 103 tokens per session (2,896 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to building third-party API connections and reusable software development kits in Laravel with the Saloon PHP package.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to connect a Laravel application to an external service, create endpoint request classes, handle OAuth2, define data objects, and test calls with simulated responses.
Why use it?
It gives API code a consistent structure for authentication, requests, responses, errors, testing, pagination, caching, and rate limits.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00103 $0.02896
Opus 5 $0.00051 $0.01448
Sonnet 5 $0.00021 $0.00579
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00290

Security

Grade A, and why

saloon-api-sdk scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Saloon — API Integrations & SDKs in Laravel

Saloon is a PHP library for building API integrations and SDKs. Every integration is made of a Connector (one per API — base URL, default headers, auth, shared config) and Request classes (one per endpoint — HTTP method, endpoint, body). Requests are sent through the connector, which returns a Response.

This skill targets Saloon v4 (saloonphp/saloon: ^4.0). v4 has the same API as v3; it is a security release (see Security notes).

Installation (Laravel)

composer require saloonphp/saloon "^4.0"
composer require saloonphp/laravel-plugin "^4.0"
php artisan vendor:publish --tag=saloon-config

Artisan generators

Command Creates
php artisan saloon:connector Connector (--oauth for an OAuth2 connector)
php artisan saloon:request Request
php artisan saloon:response Custom response
php artisan saloon:plugin Plugin trait
php artisan saloon:auth Custom authenticator
php artisan saloon:list List all API integrations

Conventions

  • Place integrations in app/Http/Integrations/{ServiceName}/, e.g. ForgeConnector.php with request classes under Requests/.
  • One connector per API. One request class per endpoint.
  • Pass runtime values (IDs, payloads, tokens) as constructor arguments — connectors and requests are plain PHP classes.
  • Prefer default* methods (defaultHeaders, defaultQuery, defaultBody, defaultAuth, defaultConfig) over setting values on instances at runtime.

Connector

<?php

namespace App\Http\Integrations\Forge;

use Saloon\Http\Connector;
use Saloon\Http\Auth\TokenAuthenticator;
use Saloon\Traits\Plugins\AlwaysThrowOnErrors;

class ForgeConnector extends Connector
{
    use AlwaysThrowOnErrors;

    public function __construct(protected readonly string $token) {}

    public function resolveBaseUrl(): string
    {
        return 'https://forge.laravel.com/api/v1';
    }

    protected function defaultHeaders(): array
    {
        return [
            'Content-Type' => 'application/json',
            'Accept' => 'application/json',
        ];
    }

    protected function defaultAuth(): TokenAuthenticator
    {
        return new TokenAuthenticator($this->token);
    }
}

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
