Pi Guardrails Dashboard

Pi Guardrails Dashboard is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from TheArchitectit/agent-guardrails-template. It costs 22 tokens per session (362 once invoked), scanned A, original, BSD-3-Clause.

Instructions for using the guardrails panel in the Pi text interface, a terminal-based coding-agent interface. The panel shows safety status, active rule violations, file scope, files read, and connected tool servers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use the /guardrails command to inspect safety scores, the four safety laws, strike counts, authorised paths, tracked files, and tool-server connection status.
Why use it?
It makes the agent’s current safety state and restrictions visible during a session.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00022 $0.00362
Opus 5 $0.00011 $0.00181
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

Pi Guardrails Dashboard scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Pi Guardrails Dashboard

Slash Command

Type /guardrails to open the guardrails overlay panel in the pi TUI.

Status Bar

The guardrails extension shows a compact status in the pi status bar:

Status Meaning
g: ok No issues — all laws satisfied, no violations
g: !!2/3 2 out of 3 max strikes active
g: src/ Scope set to src/ directory
g: !3v 3 violations logged
g: mcp:* MCP server connected
g: mcp:. MCP server disconnected (standalone mode)

Panel Sections

The /guardrails overlay displays:

  1. Safety Score — SAFE / CAUTION / AT RISK based on violation count and severity
  2. Four Laws Status — Checkmark or X for each law based on current session state
  3. Strike Tracker — Per-task strike counts, color-coded (green/yellow/red)
  4. Scope — List of authorized file paths, or "Unscoped" if no restrictions
  5. Files Read — Count of files tracked as read
  6. MCP Status — Connected or disconnected indicator

Closing the Panel

Press Esc or q to close the panel. Use j/k to scroll.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
