sparkrun-recipes

sparkrun-recipes is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from TheAwaken1/Spark-Studio. It costs 25 tokens per session (368 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating, repairing, reviewing, and tuning Sparkrun inference recipe files in YAML for DGX Spark. Sparkrun recipes describe how models are launched and configured.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to translate model launch commands into recipes, fix or tune existing YAML, manage runtime and node settings, and run the narrowest relevant checks.
Why use it?
It reduces configuration mistakes by requiring the relevant format, registry conventions, model evidence, and validation checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00025 $0.00368
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00184
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00074
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00037

Security

Grade A, and why

sparkrun-recipes scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

sparkrun recipes

Use this skill whenever a task creates, fixes, tunes, or evaluates a sparkrun recipe or translates a model launch command into recipe YAML.

Reference docs

  • ${HERMES_SKILL_DIR}/../../Title Recipe Format.md (repo root)

Quick start

Before changing a recipe, read the canonical local reference at:

`${HERMES_SKILL_DIR}/../../Title Recipe Format.md`

Then:

  1. Inspect the existing recipe, registry conventions, and the active model or failure evidence before proposing changes.
  2. Prefer explicit runtime, min_nodes, and max_nodes; preserve valid registry-specific conventions when they intentionally differ.
  3. Keep overridable values in defaults and reference them with command placeholders instead of duplicating literals.
  4. Never hardcode credentials. Use environment expansion where required.
  5. Validate the YAML and run the narrowest relevant recipe, launch, doctor, or benchmark checks available in the workspace.

Custom-engine pitfalls

  • A custom command under runtime: llama-cpp is rendered correctly, including the pre-synced GGUF path, but setting served_model_name makes sparkrun append llama.cpp's --alias. Omit that default when the custom binary does not support --alias.
  • Entrpi/ds4 with the DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 base must use the matching DSpark drafter explicitly. Do not pass --preset spark: that preset also requires the legacy MTP GGUF, which is incompatible with the 0731 base.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

sparkrun-recipes is a skill published in the GitHub repository TheAwaken1/Spark-Studio (63 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 25 tokens to every session and 368 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
