verify-api-token

verify-api-token is a skill for Claude Code from thenativeweb/claude-plugins. It costs 30 tokens per session (197 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A procedure for checking whether an API token, a secret used to access a service, is valid for an EventSourcingDB server.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to test a token and distinguish valid credentials from unauthorized ones.
Why use it?
It quickly tells you whether the credentials can authenticate with the database.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00197
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00079
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00039
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00020

Security

Grade A, and why

verify-api-token scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

Verify API Token

Verify that an API token is valid for an EventSourcingDB instance.

Shared Instructions

First read ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/shared/common.md. It explains how to determine the base URL and API token, how to handle NDJSON responses, and which conventions apply. Follow it throughout this skill.

Request

curl -s -i -X POST \
  -H "authorization: Bearer ${ESDB_API_TOKEN}" \
  "${ESDB_URL:-http://localhost:3000}/api/v1/verify-api-token"

Response

Returns 200 OK if the token is valid. Returns 401 Unauthorized if the token is invalid. Inform the user accordingly.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
