glyphs-mcp-icon-font

glyphs-mcp-icon-font is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from thierryc/Glyphs-mcp. It costs 56 tokens per session (558 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A tool for managing the character codes assigned to icons in Glyphs, a font-design application. It keeps icon-font assignments stable, including private-use characters that are reserved for custom symbols.

In plain words
What is it for?
Auditing icon-font character assignments, assigning codes to new icons, comparing an older mapping, and safely applying approved changes.
Why use it?
It helps prevent existing icons from changing codes or new icons receiving conflicting codes. It also supports reviewing proposed changes before they are applied.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.00558
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00279
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00112
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

glyphs-mcp-icon-font scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Glyphs MCP icon font

Use this skill for stable icon-font encoding, not icon drawing or general PUA work.

Core rules

  • Use only review_unicode_assignments and apply_unicode_assignments for assignment batches.
  • Run review without allocation before proposing any value.
  • Preserve every existing assignment.
  • For a released font, require its previous map before allocation. Without one, audit only unless the user explicitly authorizes a new baseline.
  • Never infer standard Unicode from an icon name or drawing.
  • Target selected or named glyphs by default. Use whole-font scope only when explicitly requested.
  • Default private icon allocation to BMP PUA; accept an explicit caller-supplied range.
  • Require a dry run and explicit approval before applying with confirm=true.
  • Never save the font.
  • Do not create manifests, canonical IDs, CSS, TypeScript, accessibility metadata, Figma workflows, or exported-font cmap reports.

Workflow

  1. Call list_open_fonts, then inspect the target with get_font_glyphs.
  2. Establish whether the font is unreleased or already released. Obtain the previous map for a released font.
  3. Call review_unicode_assignments with allocate_unencoded=false.
  4. Summarize collisions, invalid values, export-state warnings, multiple assignments, previous-map changes, and range capacity.
  5. If allocation is requested and allowed, review again with allocate_unencoded=true, the selected or named glyphs, the previous map, and any reserved values or custom range.
  6. Present the exact proposals and private-agreement warning. Do not reinterpret their meaning.
  7. Pass the reviewed assignments to apply_unicode_assignments with dry_run=true.
  8. After explicit approval, repeat with confirm=true, review the affected glyphs again, and report verification without saving.

For drawing or outline work, use glyphs-mcp-outlines-docs. For metrics, use glyphs-mcp-spacing.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
