nanoclaw-fleet: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/add-matrix/SKILL.md

add-matrix is a skill for Claude Code from thmtz/nanoclaw-fleet. It costs 19 tokens per session (1,222 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of add-matrix, MIT.

A setup workflow for adding Matrix chat support to NanoClaw through Chat SDK. Matrix is an open chat network where people communicate through different servers, called homeservers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Fetching and installing the Matrix adapter, registering it in the application, installing its dependency, and applying the documented import fixes.
Why use it?
It supplies the missing channel code and configuration needed for NanoClaw to connect to Matrix, including fixes required by Node.js module loading.

This is thmtz/nanoclaw-fleet's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on nanoclaw-fleet itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything nanoclaw-fleet configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00019 $0.01222
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00611
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00244
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00122

Security

Grade A, and why

add-matrix scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Add Matrix Channel

Adds Matrix support via the Chat SDK bridge.

Install

NanoClaw doesn't ship channels in trunk. This skill copies the Matrix adapter in from the channels branch.

Pre-flight (idempotent)

Skip to Credentials if all of these are already in place:

  • src/channels/matrix.ts exists
  • src/channels/index.ts contains import './matrix.js';
  • @beeper/chat-adapter-matrix is listed in package.json dependencies

Otherwise continue. Every step below is safe to re-run.

1. Fetch the channels branch

git fetch origin channels

2. Copy the adapter

git show origin/channels:src/channels/matrix.ts > src/channels/matrix.ts

3. Append the self-registration import

Append to src/channels/index.ts (skip if the line is already present):

import './matrix.js';

4. Install the adapter package (pinned)

pnpm install @beeper/[email protected]

5. Patch matrix-js-sdk ESM imports

The adapter's published dist references matrix-js-sdk/lib/... without .js extensions, which fails under Node 22 strict ESM resolution. Add the missing extensions (idempotent — safe to re-run):

node -e '
  const fs = require("fs"), path = require("path");
  const root = "node_modules/.pnpm";
  const dir = fs.readdirSync(root).find(d => d.startsWith("@beeper+chat-adapter-matrix@"));
  if (!dir) { console.log("Matrix adapter not installed"); process.exit(0); }
  const f = path.join(root, dir, "node_modules/@beeper/chat-adapter-matrix/dist/index.js");
  fs.writeFileSync(f, fs.readFileSync(f, "utf8").replace(
    /from "(matrix-js-sdk\/lib\/[^"]+?)(?<!\.js)"/g, "from \"$1.js\""
  ));
  console.log("Patched", f);
'

Re-run this after every pnpm install that touches the adapter.

6. Build

pnpm run build

Credentials

The bot needs its own Matrix account — separate from the user's account. This is required because Matrix cannot send DMs to yourself.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
