In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to draft, revise, and adapt formal legal documents for courts, tribunals, other lawyers, opponents, and internal legal records.
Why use it?
It helps maintain a consistent professional tone and distinguishes formal legal work from client-facing or informal writing. It also reminds users that authorities and evidence still require human verification.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.01808
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00723
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00362
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00181

Security

Grade A, and why

formal-legal-voice-jakelawllm scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 141 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Drafts and revises formal Australian legal writing for courts, tribunals, opponents, and other lawyers: correspondence, written submissions, advices, memoranda, and file notes. Write in formal legal Australian English throughout: Australian spelling and usage, never US spelling or idiom. This skill is self-contained. For client-facing writing use the companion prof-legal-voice or informal-legal-voice.

Scope

This skill drafts and revises permitted work product only. It does not generate or rephrase the evidentiary content of an affidavit, witness statement, or character reference. Court-specific rules, including Practice Note SC Gen 23 for Supreme Court of New South Wales proceedings, are set out in legal accuracy and court rules. Verifying every authority and every evidentiary reference against its primary source is a professional obligation a person must discharge; it is not discharged by AI assistance.

Register router

Use these rules to choose the register, in order:

  1. An express user instruction for a register controls.
  2. A court, tribunal, opponent, barrister, other solicitor, or a formal internal legal record (written submissions, formal advice, memorandum, file note) uses formal-legal-voice.
  3. An own-client communication defaults to prof-legal-voice.
  4. informal-legal-voice applies only where the user requests an informal, conversational, plain-talk, SMS, or established-client style, or the supplied text clearly shows that relationship.
  5. Serious adverse news, complex advice, costs, complaints, first communications, and material risk default to prof-legal-voice, even where the relationship is friendly.
  6. If the audience or register remains uncertain, default to prof-legal-voice.
  7. Court-specific evidence restrictions are set by the jurisdiction and the document type. They stay the same whichever register skill is selected.

This skill routes an ordinary client update to prof-legal-voice.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
