legal-au-clemensjl

legal-au-clemensjl is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ThomasMoreAI/legal-skills-open. It costs 95 tokens per session (4,387 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for drafting and reviewing legally required text for Australian websites, shops, apps, and newsletters. It covers privacy notices, terms, returns, marketing consent, accessibility statements, and related consumer-facing documents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare or check an Australian privacy policy, collection notice, terms of service, returns or warranty policy, marketing-consent text, accessibility statement, or broader online compliance review.
Why use it?
It helps avoid copying legal templates from another country when Australian privacy, consumer, spam, and online-safety rules differ. It identifies wording that may be missing, inaccurate, or unsuitable for Australia.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00095 $0.04387
Opus 5.5 $0.00038 $0.01755
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00877
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00439

Security

Grade A, and why

legal-au-clemensjl scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 26d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 168 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Mandatory disclosures and consumer-facing legal texts for Australian websites, webshops, apps and newsletters. The governing instruments are the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) with the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in Schedule 1, the Australian Consumer Law (ACL, Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) with the Competition and Consumer Regulations 2010, the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth), the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth) and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). Status as at 2026-08-05.

Core principle. Australian law breaks EU-built and US-built templates in opposite directions. There is no general cooling-off right for online purchases — instead the ACL gives non-excludable consumer guarantees (ACL s 64), so a returns policy that says "no refunds", "store credit only" or "no returns on sale items" is itself a contravention, while an imported "14-day right of withdrawal" invents a right that does not exist and, once published, binds the business contractually. In the other direction there is no cookie consent requirement at all — no ePrivacy equivalent — but APP 5 still requires a collection notice at the point of collection, which a consent banner does not satisfy. A template built from GDPR or CAN-SPAM material gets both ends wrong.

This skill produces drafts and review findings, not legal advice. Before go-live:

  • Webshop, subscription, payment handling, children's data, health information, or platform operation with user-generated content: obtain sign-off from an Australian lawyer.
  • First-line help without cost: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) for privacy; the ACCC (accc.gov.au) and your state or territory fair trading / consumer affairs office for consumer law; ASIC (asic.gov.au) for company and business name questions; ACMA (acma.gov.au) for spam and telemarketing; the eSafety Commissioner (esafety.gov.au) for online safety; the Australian Human Rights Commission (humanrights.gov.au) for accessibility. Free legal advice runs through state and territory Legal Aid commissions and Law Society solicitor referral schemes. Legislation itself is at legislation.gov.au.
  • Every generated text carries a visible <!-- DRAFT – NOT LEGALLY APPROVED --> HTML comment until legal sign-off is confirmed. Never remove the marker silently.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
