legal-writing-mblauberg is a skill for Codex from ThomasMoreAI/legal-skills-open. It costs 56 tokens per session (1,278 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for drafting, reviewing, shortening, and source-checking Australian legal documents and correspondence. It covers filing-related documents, legal overviews, and Australian legal citation style.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for affidavits, submissions, proposed orders, agreements, letters, legal decision summaries, and other Australian legal documents.
Why use it?
It helps keep legal writing suited to its document type, audience, and Australian forum. It also makes clear that legal accuracy and current-source checking still require human review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.01278
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00511
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00256
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00128

Security

Grade A, and why

legal-writing-mblauberg scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/lint_legal_style.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 121 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

General Australian legal style, document-shape and source-discipline layer. Stricter project and forum instructions override it. This is drafting assistance, not legal advice: verify current law, forms and procedure against official sources and retain qualified or human review for filing-facing work.

This skill is a specialization of the natural-writing hub. The hub owns the Australian English default, the anti-AI taxonomy and the condense pass; this skill owns jurisdiction, forum, instrument and filing-facing rules. The Legal Function Test is this skill's own claim-classification scheme and does not map to the hub's observed/inferred evidence schema.

Scope

Use this skill when the output is an Australian legal instrument, filing-facing text or legal correspondence: court and tribunal forms, affidavits, statutory declarations, witness statements, submissions and outlines, proposed orders, chronologies, annexure indexes, deeds and agreements, letters of demand and pre-action correspondence, registry and party correspondence, non-filing legal decision overviews, and AGLC4 citation.

Legal subject matter alone is not the trigger. An article, chapter, summary or plain-language explanation about law goes to natural-writing; a spec, README, runbook or other engineering artefact goes to engineering-writing. This skill joins either as a companion where legal status, authority, forum wording or source altitude must survive the rewrite.

Workflow

  1. Read project instructions, live matter state and source-boundary rules. Load the matching jurisdiction, forum and document skill where one exists.
  2. Choose draft, rewrite, condense, diagnose, correspondence, decision-overview or final-scrub. Load legal concision for all prose; the reference map in validation-checklists.md gives the remaining reference each mode, document type or content type needs.
  3. Classify each sentence by legal function before polishing. Affidavits and witness statements give evidence; submissions argue; orders command; chronologies organise; internal notes analyse; correspondence communicates. Move wrong-home material first.
  4. Lock legal status, source anchors, exact quotations, authorities, labels, offer terms, non-admission/non-waiver wording, deadlines, attachments, redactions and user-authority conditions.
  5. Draft the minimum complete text in Australian English. Front-load the relief, request, answer or next step; use one proposition per paragraph, one home per point and exact pinpoints. Cut padding, duplicate history, intensifiers and internal agent language.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
