clarity-api-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.grok/skills/clarity-upscale/SKILL.md

clarity-upscale is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from thomastraum/clarity-api-mcp. It costs 72 tokens per session (359 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for sending a local image or video, or a public URL, to Clarity AI for upscaling or enhancement. Upscaling increases image or video detail or resolution.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to enhance photos or videos with Clarity, Crystal, Crystal Video, or Clarity Pro, including files stored locally or at a public raw URL.
Why use it?
It provides a defined way to publish local files temporarily and submit them to Clarity, including rules for URLs that the service can fetch.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

This is thomastraum/clarity-api-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on clarity-api-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything clarity-api-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00072 $0.00359
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00179
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

clarity-upscale scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Input

  • Pass a local file path or an http(s) URL as image / video.
  • The server publishes local files to a raw URL (image/video bytes, not an HTML page) then calls Clarity.
  • Default publisher is uguu (expires in 3 hours). Set publish only when the user asks:
    • litterbox — pick a 1h/12h/24h/72h host TTL
    • funnel — Tailscale Funnel, never Serve (Serve is tailnet-only; Clarity cannot fetch it)
    • none — URLs only; local paths will fail

Clarity fetches the URL from its cloud. Preview/share pages fail.

  • Dropbox ?dl=0 share pages: pass them anyway; the server rewrites to dl.dropboxusercontent.com.
  • tmpfiles.org: pass them anyway; the server adds /dl/.
  • Do not use 0x0.st from this agent (their ToS blocks AI clients).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

clarity-upscale is a skill published in the GitHub repository thomastraum/clarity-api-mcp (1 stars, last pushed 23d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 72 tokens to every session and 359 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
