tidybot-robot-connection

tidybot-robot-connection is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from TidyBot-Services/Tidybot-Universe. It costs 104 tokens per session (497 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A connection reference for a Tidybot robot, documenting its network address, authentication key, API endpoints, and log locations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run Python code on the robot, check execution status, retrieve camera frames and recordings, read the SDK guide, and inspect server or execution logs.
Why use it?
It gives the details needed to connect to the robot and diagnose execution or communication problems.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00104 $0.00497
Opus 5 $0.00052 $0.00249
Sonnet 5 $0.00021 $0.00099
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00050

Security

Grade A, and why

tidybot-robot-connection scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

- `web_fetch` blocks private IPs. Use `curl -L` via shell for robot endpoints.

What it actually says

Robot Connection

  • Robot IP: <ROBOT_IP>
  • API Key: <API_KEY>
  • Base URL: http://<ROBOT_IP>:8080

Key Endpoints

Endpoint Method Purpose
/code/execute POST Run Python code on the robot
/code/status?stdout_offset=N&stderr_offset=N GET Poll execution output
/code/recordings/{execution_id} GET Execution recording metadata
/code/recordings/{execution_id}/frames/{filename} GET Retrieve recorded camera frame (JPEG)
/code/sdk/ GET SDK reference (browsable)
/code/sdk/markdown GET SDK reference as markdown
/docs/guide/html GET Getting-started guide
/cameras/{id}/frame GET Live camera frame (use sparingly)

Logs

All logs are in ~/tidybot_uni/logs/:

File Content
agent_server.log Agent server runtime log (connections, errors, lifecycle)
code_execution.log Stdout/stderr from all code executions
code_executions/ Per-execution Python files + output (timestamped)

Logs rotate daily (e.g. agent_server.log.2026-03-05). Always check these first when debugging errors — don't redirect server output to /tmp/.

Notes

  • web_fetch blocks private IPs. Use curl -L via shell for robot endpoints.
  • Prefer print() + polling /code/status over live camera polling.
  • Recorded frames save automatically at 0.5 Hz during execution — use those instead of live polls.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

tidybot-robot-connection is a skill published in the GitHub repository TidyBot-Services/Tidybot-Universe (56 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 104 tokens to every session and 497 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
