Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00034 | $0.01143 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00014 | $0.00457 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00007 | $0.00229 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00003 | $0.00114 |
Grade A, and why
start-day scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 17d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 73 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Start Day
Workflow for opening a new workday in the journal.
When
- First interaction of the day
- The user asks to start the day
- There is no day file for today yet
Always in its own session (see AGENTS.md, "One session per day"). If another day has already been processed in this session, do not start this workflow on your own: say that the new day belongs in a new session and stop there.
Steps
-
Create the day file
- Location:
journal/[YEAR]/[WEEK]/ - Naming convention:
[DAYNUMBER]-[day]-[DATE].md(e.g.3-wednesday-2026-03-11.md) - Day numbers: 1=monday, 2=tuesday, 3=wednesday, 4=thursday, 5=friday
- Template:
journal/daily-journal-template.md - Create the week directory if it does not exist yet. Determine the date and week number via the terminal, not from memory.
- Location:
-
Consult the week kickoff
- Read
journal/[YEAR]/[WEEK]/0-kickoff-week-[WEEK].md - Fill the 🎯 Planned section with the tasks and meetings planned for today
- Carry over tasks that were pushed forward from the previous day
- Possible Feedback is not a task: items under "📨 Possible Feedback This Week" are not something the user actively drives today. Do not list them as tasks, do not reserve room for them. Only process them when something actually comes in that day, and then in the Daily Flow under the right project heading.
- Read
-
Check the previous day
- Read the journal of the previous workday
- Check for open tasks (
[ ]and[~]) that need to be carried over - Check the Carry Into Tomorrow section for intentions
-
Check the task manager (if connected)
- Fetch today's tasks, overdue tasks and upcoming deadlines. The task manager takes precedence over the week kickoff, also in wording (see
AGENTS.md). - Add relevant tasks to 🎯 Planned, short and as one-liners.
- Tasks where the ball is with someone else go under ⏳ Waiting For Response, with what they are waiting for in parentheses.
- Flag: deadlines that clash with the day, tasks that have been pushed forward for several days (is there a threshold to getting started?), and a day without [your fuel].
- Fetch today's tasks, overdue tasks and upcoming deadlines. The task manager takes precedence over the week kickoff, also in wording (see
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

start-day is a skill published in the GitHub repository TimoBakx/ai-journaling-template (34 stars, last pushed 18d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 34 tokens to every session and 1,143 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-15.
