A search skill for Claude Code history. It finds past sessions using words from your question and can inspect the most relevant matches in detail.

Use it to find where you discussed a topic, when you worked on something, or which session contains a particular result.

It removes the need to manually browse old sessions when looking for a previous discussion or piece of work.

How it starts

You have access to the claude-view MCP server which provides tools for monitoring, analyzing, and managing Claude Code sessions. The claude-view server must be running on localhost (it auto-starts via the plugin hook).

Important: All tool names are prefixed with mcp__claude-view__. When calling a tool, always use the full prefixed name.

Error handling: If a tool returns an error about the server not being detected, tell the user to start it with npx claude-view.

Session Search

Find sessions across the user's Claude Code history using grep-backed session search.

Steps

Search sessions. Call mcp__claude-view__search_sessions with the user's query as the q parameter.
If results are sparse, try mcp__claude-view__list_sessions with the q filter parameter and limit: 20 to catch sessions matched by metadata (project name, branch, model).
For the most relevant results (top 3-5), call mcp__claude-view__get_session to get full details including commits and summary.
