tomtom-maps-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/tomtom-mcp-tov/SKILL.md

tomtom-mcp-tov is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tomtom-international/tomtom-maps-mcp. It costs 107 tokens per session (1,146 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A writing guide for public copy related to the TomTom Maps MCP server, including documentation pages, README files, changelog entries, and manifest descriptions. It sets rules for a clear, confident developer-facing voice.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for writing or revising TomTom MCP documentation and other listed public descriptions while keeping the wording accessible to developers.
Why use it?
Technical copy can be inconsistent or difficult to understand when different files use different styles. This guide gives those public surfaces a shared writing standard.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is tomtom-international/tomtom-maps-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on tomtom-maps-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything tomtom-maps-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00107 $0.01146
Opus 5.5 $0.00043 $0.00458
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00229
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00115

Measured 10d ago against content hash dd9329dbad07, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

tomtom-mcp-tov scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 76 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

TomTom's tone of voice for this repository's public copy. The rules below are this repository's summary of TomTom's internal tomtom-tov skill (tomtom-internal/ai-coding-agent-marketplace, catalog/tomtom-tov). The full guide is internal, and this repository is public, so don't copy it here. Keep this summary in our own words, and limited to what developer documentation needs.

What it applies to

Public copy, so the voice applies Not public copy
the docs portal's MCP pages (tomtom-mcp-docs-update-pr) a tool's description and .describe() texts: the model reads them (CODING_GUIDELINES.md § 3)
README.md code comments, JSDoc, ADRs, CONTEXT.md, the guidelines and the skills
CHANGELOG.md entries, which become the release notes PR bodies (tomtom-mcp-pr-description § Voice) and review comments
manifest-binary.json's display_name, description and long_description

Apply it to what you write or rewrite. A file you only pass through is no reason for a voice pass.

The voice

  • Confident. State what the server does, with the fact that proves it. No boasting, no hedging.
  • Accessible. Plain words a developer new to maps follows. Explain a mapping term the first time, or link to where it's explained.
  • Inspiring, in its place. An overview or a use case may show what a reader can build. A setup step or a reference table just says what to do.

The principles

  • Write naturally. If nobody would say the sentence out loud, rewrite it. Vary sentence length.
  • Show, don't claim. A number, an example or a result beats an adjective: "returns up to 100 results" rather than "powerful search".
  • Lead with the solution, never soften the fact. Say what works and how. A limit, a breaking change or a removed tool is stated plainly. Optimism never hides it.
  • Write for a developer. Go as deep as the task needs, in plain English.

The style rules

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
