claudeai-sync

claudeai-sync is a skill for Claude Code from tonydzi/second-brain-starter-kit. It costs 89 tokens per session (1,610 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command for incrementally copying new or changed chats from a logged-in Claude web account into an Obsidian vault. Obsidian is a note-taking system that stores linked notes as files.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps pull chats, save exported artifacts as separate notes, link related concepts, and refresh the vault’s search index and dashboard.
Why use it?
It brings recent conversations and their artifacts into local notes without overwriting notes that were manually curated.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00089 $0.01610
Opus 5 $0.00044 $0.00805
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00322
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00161

Measured 7d ago against content hash 387f1277408d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

claudeai-sync scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

claudeai-sync — pull what's new from claude.ai into the vault

Account [email protected] (Claude Max). claude.ai chats do NOT live on disk — they are pulled live through the logged-in session (Claude-in-Chrome). Semi-automatic: PULL (step 1) is done by me while the session is open; everything after that is deterministic and idempotent.

Scripts: $IMPORTS_ROOT/claude-ai/ · originals → $OBSIDIAN_ROOT/_originals/claude-ai-export/ · live layer → 01-Conversations/Claude-AI/.

⚠️ The main landmine

The API exposes artifacts ONLY with rendering_mode=messages. raw/default silently return 0 artifacts. Always use messages + verify the artifact counter.

⚠️ Anti-recents (hunting for one specific chat by hand)

When looking for ONE specific chat by hand (not a full PULL) — NEVER conclude "the chat isn't there" from a glance at the recents list: (1) use the built-in "Search chats…" with keywords; (2) check Projects/archive/pinned; (3) confirm the active ACCOUNT by the email in the profile menu. More reliable still — the full API listing chat_conversations?limit=1000 (the PULL step) instead of reading /recents with your eyes. Canon: memory [[web-ui-search-not-recents]] (incident 2026-07-23).

Steps

1. PULL (in-session, ~30 sec)

  • Claude-in-Chrome → navigate https://claude.ai/recents.
  • javascript_tool (same-origin authed fetch), org = <YOUR_ORG_UUID> (roles chat+claude_max; a second org on the account is API-only, returns 403, ignore it):
    • the list: /api/organizations/{ORG}/chat_conversations?limit=1000&offset=0
    • each chat: /api/organizations/{ORG}/chat_conversations/{uuid}?tree=True&rendering_mode=messages → cache into window.__convs
    • projects: /api/organizations/{ORG}/projects + /{uuid} (descr + prompt_template) + /{uuid}/docs (content inline)
    • Blob-download it as ONE file claude-ai-export-YYYY-MM-DD.json (schema claude-ai-export/v1: {conversations, projects, filesManifest}).
      • ⚠️ conversations MUST be an OBJECT {uuid: conv}, NOT a list — the converter claudeai_export_to_vault.py:120 calls convs.items() (a list → AttributeError: 'list' object has no attribute 'items'). filesManifest is a list of {conv, msg, kind, meta}. Under rendering_mode=messages artifacts arrive as <antArtifact …> INSIDE text items (NOT as tool_use blocks) — that is normal, the converter parses them.
  • Move it out of Downloads into raw\ + archive into _originals\claude-ai-export\ (sha256). The full JS lives in the session journal of 2026-06-12 / memory [[claude-ai-export-to-vault]].
  • (A delta pull is optional — the converter is idempotent by uuid; a full pull only adds what's new.)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

claudeai-sync is a skill published in the GitHub repository tonydzi/second-brain-starter-kit (5 stars, last pushed 8d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 89 tokens to every session and 1,610 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
