find

find is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tonydzi/second-brain-starter-kit. It costs 88 tokens per session (819 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A name and company search that finds people, leads, contacts, and companies despite typos, transliteration, or text entered with the wrong keyboard layout. It searches spelling patterns rather than meaning.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find a person or company by name across leads, contacts, companies, and optionally vault note titles.
Why use it?
Ordinary search can miss a person when their name is misspelled or written in another alphabet. This provides a deterministic alternative to meaning-based search.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00088 $0.00819
Opus 5 $0.00044 $0.00409
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00164
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00082

Measured 4d ago against content hash 2ce1a14efe76, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

find scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/find — smart search for a name or company by SPELLING

🧒 When reporting to a non-technical operator: end with a child-simple "In plain words" recap in their language.

Deterministic, 0 tokens — NOT RAG. Embeddings do not understand mangled spellings, typos or a wrong keyboard layout; that is caught by separate code using phonetic fingerprints + fuzzy comparison. For search by MEANING use /ask, not this.

When to come here

"find Viktor" · "all the Viktors" · "find the company Merlion" · "who is " · wrong-layout gibberish / typos / transliteration — any PERSON, lead, contact or COMPANY name in any spelling.

Run (ALWAYS with PYTHONUTF8=1 — otherwise a cp1252 crash on the Windows console)

PYTHONUTF8=1 python "$IMPORTS_ROOT/namesearch/find_name.py" <name> [--html] [--all]

  • by default: leads + people + companies + Apple contacts (vault note titles hidden)
  • --all — also include the note titles of the whole vault
  • --html — a visual dashboard in _Dashboards\Name-Search-*.html (the operator works visually — offer it for long lists)

A name written in its native script produces a clean query; a wrong-layout or typo'd query is expanded automatically.

Neighbours

  • expand_query.py <word> [--grep] [--line] — expand a word into every spelling, for grepping the vault or feeding into /ask (the RAG hook).
  • The names.db index is rebuilt by a weekly task (and manually via name_index.py --vault). If something is missing right after a big import, mention that a rebuild is due; do not run it unasked.

The answer

  • Give a list/table (display · type · file link); for a long one, the --html dashboard.
  • A company surfaces first for a company query, together with its related people.
  • 0 hits → say so plainly, suggest checking the spelling or rebuilding the index; never guess.
  • Keep it short; end with the 🧒 recap.

Do not confuse

/ask = by meaning (RAG, embeddings). /find = by spelling (a deterministic fingerprint). Canon memory [[smart-name-search]].

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

find is a skill published in the GitHub repository tonydzi/second-brain-starter-kit (5 stars, last pushed 5d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 88 tokens to every session and 819 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
