avada-verbosa

avada-verbosa is a skill for Claude Code from Totes-MickGOATs/opus-pocus. It costs 158 tokens per session (1,305 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A measured process for removing text from Claude Code instruction files and checking whether the change harms task results.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run controlled instruction removals against an evaluation suite or project activity data, with changes separated so regressions can be traced.
Why use it?
Instruction files often contain old workarounds, but deleting text without a baseline makes it hard to know whether anything got worse.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00158 $0.01305
Opus 5 $0.00079 $0.00652
Sonnet 5 $0.00032 $0.00261
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00130

Security

Grade A, and why

avada-verbosa scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

🔮 Avada Verbosa

"Delete what nothing measures. Mourn nothing that doesn't fail an eval."

Mature instruction stacks accrete compensation for weaknesses the current model no longer has, and text survives because deletion feels risky and nobody measures. This spell makes deletion cheap and measured.

Practitioner reports of large deletions from mature prompt stacks with no measured eval loss are common; treat any specific fraction as unverified. This pass exists to produce your number, not to reproduce someone else's — and a claim without its measurement is exactly what legilimens-anthropica lists as an anti-pattern.

Prerequisites — no baseline, no killing curse

  1. A baseline. Either a real eval suite (tasks the repo cares about, scored), or at minimum The Pensieve's telemetry week: loop counts, correction rates, token burn, session outcomes. Without a before, "no eval loss" is unfalsifiable.
  2. A revert path. Instruction files under version control, deletions in their own commits, one theme per commit — so any regression bisects to its deletion.

Selecting candidates

Rank instruction text by suspicion, highest first:

  1. Compensation prose — text telling the model to do what the current family does unprompted (thoroughness demands, self-verification, "think step by step" relics).
  2. Explanation prose — paragraphs justifying a rule to the model. The rule may earn its place; the three-paragraph rationale rarely does (archive it — Obliviate Fossilium's move).
  3. Mechanically-enforced rules — prose restating what a blocking hook already enforces. The hook survives; the paragraph is a candidate.
  4. Never-observed rules — rules whose trigger situation hasn't occurred in recorded history (transcripts, git log). Untriggered text is untested text.
  5. Low-stakes preferences — formatting and style minutiae the user never actually enforces in review.

Never candidates: destructive-action guards, security boundaries, data-egress rules, anything a measured incident put there (check the repo's decision records before selecting — a rule with a scar behind it needs its ground re-examined, not ablated on suspicion), and anything that also serves a human reader.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

avada-verbosa is a skill published in the GitHub repository Totes-MickGOATs/opus-pocus (10 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 158 tokens to every session and 1,305 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
