trading-risk-gate

trading-risk-gate is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tradermonty/hermes-trading-research-agent-work-package. It costs 23 tokens per session (282 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A checklist that classifies the current trading situation before producing trade candidates, position sizes, or journal reviews. It considers market breadth, trend participation, events, exposure, and data quality.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to decide whether trading should be broadly allowed, selective, limited to research, or replaced by a cash-first approach.
Why use it?
It can prevent trade-planning work when the market is risky, the portfolio is already exposed, or the available data is incomplete. The final decision remains with the human trader.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00023 $0.00282
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00141
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00056
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

trading-risk-gate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Trading Risk Gate

Use this skill before generating any candidate list or trade-plan style output.

Risk gate states

  • FULL_RISK_ALLOWED: broad participation, favorable trend, no major immediate event risk.
  • SELECTIVE_ONLY: mixed evidence; only strongest setups, smaller size, tighter review.
  • CASH_PRIORITY: risk-off or deteriorating breadth; no new discretionary swing candidates.
  • RESEARCH_ONLY: missing data or uncertain regime; research and journaling only.

Required checks

  1. Market breadth.
  2. Uptrend participation.
  3. Distribution/top-risk signals.
  4. Macro/earnings event risk.
  5. Portfolio heat / current exposure if available.
  6. Data quality/freshness.

Output

risk_gate:
  state: SELECTIVE_ONLY
  confidence: medium
  reasons:
    - ...
  blocked_actions:
    - ...
  allowed_actions:
    - ...
  missing_data:
    - ...

Do not use the risk gate to make an execution recommendation. It is a decision-support gate for the human trader.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
