A command-line workflow for managing changes as proposal, specification, design, and task files before applying them. OpenSpec is an npm tool for specification-led development, where requirements are written down before code is changed.

Use it for multi-step features and long-lived projects: propose a change, create its specs and tasks, apply the tasks, then archive the result into the project’s specifications.

It gives an AI coding session shared documents to work from instead of relying on one prompt. Archived specifications preserve the project’s decisions for later sessions and future changes.
