marklogic-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/marklogic-docker-setup/SKILL.md

marklogic-docker-setup is a skill for Claude Code from tternquist/marklogic-mcp. It costs 178 tokens per session (2,466 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for maintaining portal multi-factor authentication, which asks for more than one proof of identity, such as a password plus a TOTP code or a security key. They cover TOTP, WebAuthn, login checkpoints, enrollment, replay prevention, and TLS tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing portal login checkpoints, TOTP or WebAuthn enrollment and verification, lockouts, credential changes, or end-to-end security tests.
Why use it?
They help prevent accepting the wrong authentication factor, reusing a one-time code, losing proof during failure handling, or allowing an old login session to change a current account.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00178 $0.02466
Opus 5.5 $0.00071 $0.00986
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00036 $0.00493
Haiku 4.5 $0.00018 $0.00247

Security

Grade A, and why

marklogic-docker-setup scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

MarkLogic Server in Docker

Start from what already exists

This repo ships three ready-to-copy compose files at its root — start from whichever is closest before writing one from scratch:

File Runs Use when
docker-compose.yml MarkLogic + flux-runner + this MCP server full local dev stack, nothing pre-existing
docker-compose.external.yml MCP + flux-runner only, joins a shared network MarkLogic (and/or Semaphore) already running in another compose project
docker-compose.mcp-only.yml MCP server only pointing at an existing MarkLogic reachable by host/IP

templates/docker-compose.yml in this skill is the piece those three build on: a plain, standalone single-node MarkLogic service with no MCP server attached, for when the task is "stand up MarkLogic" rather than "run this MCP server."

The init/restart race — the most common false alarm

MarkLogic's own /manage/v2 and /admin/v1/timestamp endpoints can return 200 while the server is mid-restart applying a bootstrap or config change. A dependent service, or a healthcheck: that fires once and moves on, can connect during that window and get 503 Restarting to reload server config moments later — or connect to a MarkLogic that hasn't finished creating its default databases and app servers yet.

A longer start_period alone does not fix this — the problem isn't waiting long enough before the first check, it's that any single successful probe can land inside the restart window. Require several consecutive successful probes before trusting "ready":

ok_streak=0
for i in $(seq 1 36); do
  if curl -sf -u admin:admin http://localhost:8002/manage/v2 >/dev/null 2>&1; then
    ok_streak=$((ok_streak + 1))
    [ "$ok_streak" -ge 3 ] && break
    sleep 3
  else
    ok_streak=0
    sleep 5
  fi
done

This exact pattern is what this repo's own CI uses before seeding test data — see .github/workflows/integration.yml. Use the same "N consecutive OKs" shape for any consumer waiting on MarkLogic, not just a Compose healthcheck: block — a depends_on: condition: service_healthy only inherits whatever the healthcheck itself verifies, and a single-probe healthcheck reports healthy too early.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

marklogic-docker-setup is a skill published in the GitHub repository tternquist/marklogic-mcp (4 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 178 tokens to every session and 2,466 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-18.
