ai-product-development

ai-product-development is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from tushaarmehtaa/tushar-skills. It costs 46 tokens per session (2,135 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for designing, building, or reviewing production AI features, such as model-powered app functions. It covers model choice, streaming responses, tool use, safety, evaluation, monitoring, and cost controls.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add or audit AI capabilities in an application, including chat or generation, background jobs, retrieval, bounded tool use, and agent workflows.
Why use it?
It helps connect an AI model to the full product experience, including authorization, errors, retries, privacy, limits, and the different states users see while work is running.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.02135
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00854
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00427
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00214

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-product-development scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 101 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

AI product development

A model call that works in a demo fails in production in three places: a tool handler that trusts an earlier authorization check, usage charged after the fact under concurrency, and a model or prompt change shipped without an evaluation. Get those three right, then map every UI state to its failure and its charge. Input validation, secret handling and typed routes are assumed.

Choose a mode

  • Build: add or change an AI feature. Apply every section that the feature touches.
  • Audit: review an existing feature. Do not edit unless asked. Report findings ranked by severity, each with file:line, the failure it allows, and the fix.
  • Model or prompt change: swap a model, edit instructions, change tools, retrieval, temperature or output limits. Run Evaluate before changing a model or prompt first. Use the ai-cost-audit skill when the motive is cost.

A request that says "review", "check" or "is this safe" is Audit. A request to "add", "make", or "wire" is Build. Ask only when the request could be either and the answer decides whether files change.

Inspect first

Read before asking:

  • the AI SDK and its installed major version (package.json plus the lockfile), the providers, and every place a tool is defined or executed;
  • how the server identifies actor and tenant, and how that identity reaches a tool handler;
  • the credit, quota or billing path, and whether requests can run concurrently or loop through tools;
  • existing eval fixtures, golden outputs, prompt files and telemetry.

Ask only about choices that change the boundary: which tool actions need human approval, the charging policy for cancelled or failed work, and whether work must outlive the request (background job versus stream). Continue with labeled assumptions when the choice is reversible.

Authorize at tool execution time

Treat the tool name and arguments the model selects as untrusted input from the internet. Retrieved documents, emails and web pages can inject them. Authorizing the chat request does not authorize the action the model picks three steps later.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
