What is tuya-smart-control?

A natural-language controller for Tuya smart-home devices, using Tuya's online API and real-time device messages. Tuya is a platform for connected home devices such as lights, plugs, and air conditioners.

Use it to switch devices on or off, adjust settings, check device status, manage homes and rooms, rename devices, check weather, and send notifications when the required Tuya access key is configured.

It lets you manage supported devices through everyday requests instead of handling each device's API commands manually.

Environment Variable Configuration

Set the following environment variable before use:

The same TUYA_API_KEY is used for both the REST API and WebSocket message subscription. The WebSocket URI is auto-detected from the API key prefix (same 7 data centers as the REST API). See references/device-message.md for the full mapping table.

The skill will not load if the TUYA_API_KEY environment variable is missing.

Usage

Always prefer Method 1 (Command Line) — single command, no boilerplate code. It handles authentication, URL resolution, JSON serialization, and error handling automatically.
