spotfire-to-sigma

spotfire-to-sigma is a skill for Claude Code from twells89/sigma-migration-skills. It costs 32 tokens per session (1,492 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow that converts an authoritative Spotfire model and analysis manifest into a Sigma data model and workbook, then checks the result through Sigma and the warehouse. A manifest is a structured export describing the source system's content and configuration.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to validate a Spotfire export, find migration gaps, create Sigma model and workbook output, and verify whether the resulting queries run in the warehouse.
Why use it?
It creates validation gates around extraction, conversion, posting, reading back, and warehouse execution. It also reports that source-visual parity is not claimed and that normal live runs stop until rendered source evidence is supplied.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00032 $0.01492
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00597
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00298
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00149

Security

Grade A, and why

spotfire-to-sigma scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 43 executable files (scripts/assert-phase6-ran.rb, scripts/browser-login.sh, scripts/build-parity-plan.rb, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 144 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Spotfire → Sigma

This foundation supports authoritative extraction, deterministic conversion, Sigma POST/readback, and warehouse execution verification. It does not claim Spotfire source parity. A normal live run stops at exit 16 after the warehouse gate until rendered source-visual evidence is supplied.

Phase 0 — Assess (C1)

Use the sibling spotfire-assessment skill for estate inventory and shortlisting. It accepts the same authoritative single-document manifest used here. For one selected analysis, run scripts/scan_gaps.py or let the orchestrator write gap-report.json.

Phase 1 — Discover (C2)

Export through the public Spotfire.Dxp.Application API:

OutputPath=/secure/export/spotfire-manifest.json
ProvenancePath=/secure/export/spotfire-manifest-provenance.json
SourceDxpPath=/secure/source/analysis.dxp
ExecutionContext=analyst

The manifest is authoritative only when authority.authoritative=true, api_surface=Spotfire.Dxp.Application, and dxp_raw_used=false. Validate it:

python3 scripts/validate_manifest.py spotfire-manifest.json \
  --provenance-map spotfire-manifest-provenance.json

spotfire-manifest-provenance.json is exporter API evidence. It is not the warehouse map. Create a customer warehouse target map conforming to refs/spotfire-source-map.schema.json; this maps imported, embedded, on-demand, and data-function outputs to landed warehouse tables. Dry-run may report an unavailable DXP hash, but live mode requires SourceDxpPath so the manifest, resumed Sigma objects, and visual evidence are bound to the exact source bytes.

Phase 1.5 — Reuse-check (C3)

The orchestrator writes workbook-signature.json and runs find-or-pick-dm.rb. A safe auto-pick is read back and census-checked. An ambiguous recommendation stops at exit 15; rerun with either --reuse-dm <id> or --force-new-dm. Every decision is recorded in dm-reuse-decision.json.

Phase 2 — Convert (C4)

convert.py consumes manifest v1 (model.tables, model.relations, presentation.pages, presentation.filtering_schemes, automation, and security). It translates supported formulas and visuals, preserves nested layout, and emits loud gaps for unsupported scripts, data functions, mods, markings, bookmarks, and security work.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

spotfire-to-sigma is a skill published in the GitHub repository twells89/sigma-migration-skills (17 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 1,492 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-14.
