streamlit-to-sigma

streamlit-to-sigma is a skill for Claude Code from twells89/sigma-migration-skills. It costs 67 tokens per session (2,745 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A static-analysis tool that turns a Streamlit app into a candidate Sigma data model and workbook. Streamlit is a Python framework for building data apps, while Sigma is a cloud analytics platform.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for assessing and preparing Streamlit projects for migration to Sigma, including multi-page apps and SQL- or Pandas-backed data.
Why use it?
It can map supported controls, charts, dataframes, and layouts without running the app, while recording unsupported parts for review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00067 $0.02745
Opus 5.5 $0.00027 $0.01098
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00549
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00275

Security

Grade A, and why

streamlit-to-sigma scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 44 executable files (converter/__init__.py, converter/analyzer.py, converter/api_capabilities.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 343 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Streamlit → Sigma

Static analysis is the safety boundary: never import or execute the Streamlit app during discovery. Translate only behavior whose source/dataframe lineage is proven. Everything else stays visible in gaps.json.

This skill uses the companion sigma-authoring skills as the source of truth for Sigma data-model/workbook shapes. Run commands from this skill directory.

Read before converting:

  1. refs/supported-patterns.md
  2. refs/schema-hints.md
  3. refs/layout-visual-qa.md

Inputs

Accept a project directory or a single main file. A complete Streamlit-in-Workspaces project usually contains:

snowflake.yml
pyproject.toml
streamlit_app.py
pages/*.py or app_pages/*.py
lib/*.py
.streamlit/config.toml

The analyzer follows Python artifacts listed in snowflake.yml, local page files, and helper modules. It reads configuration and source text only.

Quick offline conversion

python3 scripts/streamlit-convert.py /path/to/project \
  --connection <sigma-connection-id> \
  --folder <sigma-folder-id> \
  --name "Project Name" \
  --out-dir /tmp/project-migration

Outputs:

  • streamlit-ir.json — source/provenance-aware normalized contract
  • source-signature.json — reuse-check input
  • gaps.json and security.json
  • dm-spec.json / dm-result.json
  • wb-spec.json / workbook-result.json
  • layout.xml
  • parity-plan.json

The offline workbook defaults to custom-SQL sources because those preserve source semantics without guessing server-remapped DM ids.

One-command orchestrator

Dry-run is the default:

python3 scripts/migrate-streamlit.py /path/to/project \
  --connection <sigma-connection-id> \
  --out-dir /tmp/project-migration

Posting requires explicit gate decisions:

python3 scripts/migrate-streamlit.py /path/to/project \
  --connection <sigma-connection-id> \
  --name "Project Name" \
  --reuse-decision custom-sql \
  --ack-security \
  --post

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
