Why use it?
It provides practical ways to work with Word files, including their text, tracked changes, raw document structure, and page images.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is python scripts/office/soffice.py --headless --convert-to docx document.doc.

Good fit Use it to create business documents, extract or edit content, convert older .doc files, handle tracked changes, and turn pages into images.

Getting it into your agent

It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00037 $0.05248
Opus 5.5 $0.00015 $0.02099
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.01050
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00525

Security

Grade A, and why

docx scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 7 executable files (assets/templates/invoice.js, assets/templates/letter-din5008.js, assets/templates/memo.js, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 473 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

DOCX creation, editing, and analysis

Resolve scripts/, assets/ and other bundled paths relative to this skill's directory, not the project working directory. Pass absolute input/output paths to helpers; keep generated files in the project or ~/output/.

Overview

A .docx file is a ZIP archive containing XML files.

Quick Reference

Task Approach
Standard business doc (letter, report, memo, invoice) Start from a ready-made template in assets/templates/ — see Templates below
Plain text or summary Use document-parse
Tracked changes or document structure pandoc --track-changes=all or unpack for raw XML
Create a custom document Use docx-js — see Creating New Documents below
Edit existing document Unpack → edit XML → repack — see Editing Existing Documents below

Converting .doc to .docx

Legacy .doc files must be converted before editing:

python scripts/office/soffice.py --headless --convert-to docx document.doc

Reading Content

# Text extraction with tracked changes
pandoc --track-changes=all document.docx -o output.md

# Raw XML access
python scripts/office/unpack.py document.docx unpacked/

Converting to Images

python scripts/office/soffice.py --headless --convert-to pdf document.docx
pdftoppm -jpeg -r 150 document.pdf page

Accepting Tracked Changes

To produce a clean document with all tracked changes accepted (requires LibreOffice):

python scripts/accept_changes.py input.docx output.docx

Templates (start here for standard documents)

For the most common deliverables, don't build from scratch — copy a ready-made template from assets/templates/ and edit its data. Each is a standalone A4 + European generator (docx-js) with a clearly marked data block at the top and the document logic below. Output text is English; switch labels/locale if you need another language. They share one design system (Arial, a restrained accent colour, hairline rules) and bake in the fiddly parts: page size, DIN margins, dual table widths, €1,234.56 formatting, page numbers.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

docx is a skill published in the GitHub repository unclutter-pro/atlas (2 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 37 tokens to every session and 5,248 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
