pr-local-preview-maintainer

pr-local-preview-maintainer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Undertone0809/rudder. It costs 49 tokens per session (1,525 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A local pull-request preview workflow that checks out a GitHub pull request in a separate Git worktree, which is an additional working copy of a repository.

In plain words
What is it for?
Inspecting a pull request locally, running its preview, validating or reviewing UI changes, and removing the disposable worktree afterward.
Why use it?
It protects current uncommitted work while making the pull request available for browser review, screenshots, readiness checks, logs, and later cleanup.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /Users/zeeland/projects/rudder-oss-pr-8.

Good fit Inspecting a pull request locally, running its preview, validating or reviewing UI changes, and removing the disposable worktree afterward.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.01525
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00763
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00305
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00153

Security

Grade A, and why

pr-local-preview-maintainer scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

PR Local Preview Maintainer

Run pull requests in a disposable local worktree and give the user a stable preview link. The point is to let the user review the PR while protecting their current working tree and making UI changes visible.

Default Workflow

1. Preserve the current workspace

Start by checking the repository state:

git status --short --branch
gh pr view <number> --json number, title, state, headRefName, headRepositoryOwner, url,isCrossRepository

If the current worktree has local changes, do not run gh pr checkout there. Create or reuse a sibling worktree instead. This avoids overwriting unrelated work and keeps the PR preview easy to remove later.

Use a predictable path:

<repo-parent>/<repo-name>-pr-<number>

For this repository, PR 8 should become:

/Users/zeeland/projects/rudder-oss-pr-8

If the directory already exists, inspect it before reusing it:

git -C <worktree-path> status --short --branch
git -C <worktree-path> branch --show-current

If it is dirty, ask only if the dirty changes conflict with the user's goal. Otherwise, pick a suffixed path such as <repo-name>-pr-<number>-preview.

2. Check out the PR in the worktree

Create the worktree from the remote base, then check out the PR branch inside it:

git worktree add --detach <worktree-path> origin/main
gh pr checkout <number> --branch zeelandc/pr-<number>

If main is not the base branch, use the PR's actual base ref. Prefer a local branch name that makes the preview purpose clear and follows the user's branch prefix convention when the repository defines one.

After checkout, verify:

git status --short --branch

3. Install dependencies only when needed

Check whether dependencies are present:

test -d node_modules && echo node_modules-present || echo node_modules-missing

If missing, install them from the worktree:

pnpm install

Report install warnings only when they affect the preview. Routine peer or bin link warnings can be mentioned briefly.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
