new-chat-prompt

new-chat-prompt is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Unique-Divine/jiyuu. It costs 54 tokens per session (244 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for writing a prompt to continue a task in a fresh chat. It transfers the goal and important context so another conversation can pick up the work.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when you want to start over in a new chat, move work elsewhere, or give another agent clear instructions for continuing a task.
Why use it?
It avoids repeating the task manually or losing useful details when moving to a new chat. It keeps the handoff focused instead of duplicating large files or documents.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00244
Opus 5 $0.00027 $0.00122
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00049
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00024

Security

Grade A, and why

new-chat-prompt scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

New Chat Prompt

When this skill applies, do not complete the underlying task.

Instead, write a concise prompt the user can paste into a new chat where the task will be handled there.

Include:

  • The user's goal
  • Any important context already known that seems crucial to the task at hand.
  • Clear instructions for the next agent

Keep the prompt clear and cogent while avoiding extra explanation unless the user asks for it.

Do not duplicate the content of other artifacts like plans, issues, or diffs. Instead, reference them by path, name, or retrieval guidelines. For example, you can include gh issue view "$num" for some GitHub ticket rather than writing out the issue body yourself. Or in the case of a file/dir, prefer saying the path with a one-liner on its utility for the task rather than copying tons of text from the path.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
