code-mode

code-mode is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from UsefulSoftwareCo/executor. It costs 33 tokens per session (2,820 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to running JavaScript programs that call connected app tools. It explains how to find tools, read their inputs, combine results, and handle approvals, limits, and errors.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps search available app operations, call several independent operations together, pass one result into another, and return a small filtered result.
Why use it?
It avoids guessing tool names or arguments and keeps large intermediate results out of the agent's conversation.

About the project

Executor is a shared integration layer that lets AI agents use tools from MCP servers, OpenAPI specifications, GraphQL APIs, and custom JavaScript functions through one catalog. It centralizes credentials and per-tool access policies so MCP-compatible agents can reuse the same integrations.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.02820
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.01128
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00564
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00282

Security

Grade A, and why

code-mode scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Code mode

execute runs one JavaScript program over every app you can reach. App tools are async functions under tools. One program can call several tools, combine their results and return a small value, so large results never pass through your context.

The interpreter has no imports, fetch, process or filesystem, no timers (setTimeout, setInterval, queueMicrotask), and no btoa, atob, TextEncoder, TextDecoder or globalThis. A tool call is its only way out. Use await and Promise.all for independent calls. As in JavaScript, code between two awaits runs without interruption, so concurrent async functions can update shared variables. console.log output comes back in logs. Write JavaScript; TypeScript syntax is not portable across Executor hosts.

Find tools and read signatures

return await tools.search({ query: "send email", namespace: "gmail", limit: 5 });

tools.search({ query?, namespace?, limit?, offset? }) returns one page of ranked matches. Each item in items has the exact callable path, the first line of its description and its input type on one line. A longer input type is cut and marked inputTruncated: true. namespaces lists each app and titled router on the page once, with the app's linked account labels, instead of repeating them in every item.

namespace is an app slug, such as gmail, or a namespace inside it. Without it, search loads and searches every app, which is slower. A page holds at most limit items, 10 by default, and stops sooner at about 25 KB of JSON. remaining counts the matches after the page, and next is the input for the following page, or null after the last match: call tools.search(next) to continue.

Search leaves out output types and later description lines. For full detail, pass up to 20 exact paths from search:

return await tools.search.describe({ paths: ["<path from search>"] });

describe returns items with the whole description and the TypeScript signature, with input and output types, plus their namespaces. A path that names no tool comes back in missing with the closest matches.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

code-mode is a skill published in the GitHub repository UsefulSoftwareCo/executor (4,341 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 33 tokens to every session and 2,820 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-06.
