slv-hermes

slv-hermes is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ValidatorsDAO/slv. It costs 118 tokens per session (2,222 once invoked), scanned C, original, Apache-2.0.

A self-hosted service stack for delivering Pyth Network cryptocurrency price updates through REST and WebSocket APIs. It runs NATS, Beacon, and Hermes on a VPS and receives data from Pythnet and Wormhole.

In plain words
What is it for?
Deploying a private Pyth price-feed API on a VPS, including its message broker and data connections. It helps serve the latest prices and available price feeds to applications over REST or WebSocket.
Why use it?
It gives you control over where price data is served and avoids the limits of the public Hermes endpoint. It also keeps the data path under your control.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00118 $0.02222
Opus 5 $0.00059 $0.01111
Sonnet 5 $0.00024 $0.00444
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00222

Security

Grade C, and why

slv-hermes scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Reaches for credential fileshighPrivilege escalation

SSH keys, cloud credentials, git-credentials, .npmrc, /etc/shadow: reading these is how a config file becomes a credential leak.

SLV Hermes Skill

Ansible recipe + skill docs for deploying a self-hosted Pyth Hermes API (REST + WebSocket price feeds) on a single VPS.

What is Hermes?

Hermes is a web service designed to monitor both Pythnet and the Wormhole Network for the next generation of Pyth price updates. It supersedes the Pyth Price Service, offering these updates through a user-friendly web API. — hermes server README

Public endpoint is https://hermes.pyth.network (10 req/10s/IP rate limit). Self-hosting removes the rate limit, lets you pin a region, and — combined with slv-pythnet — gives you full control over the data path.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

slv-hermes is a skill published in the GitHub repository ValidatorsDAO/slv (89 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 118 tokens to every session and 2,222 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 2 findings (reaches for credential files, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
