capture-dashboard

capture-dashboard is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from valtterimelkko/agent-workflow-skills. It costs 67 tokens per session (2,168 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for saving authenticated web dashboards as screenshots or HTML files. A dashboard is a website that shows data and controls, often after the user signs in.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for archiving, documenting, or taking structured snapshots of private dashboards.
Why use it?
It removes the need to capture dashboard pages manually and can crawl related pages on the same website using browser cookies.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is --output ./docs/dashboard-html.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00067 $0.02168
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.01084
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00434
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00217

Security

Grade A, and why

capture-dashboard scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/capture.js), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Dashboard Capture

Capture authenticated web dashboards as screenshots and HTML files using cookie-based authentication with automatic crawling.

Prerequisites

1. Install cookie-editor Chrome Extension

Install the cookie-editor extension to export cookies from your browser:

2. Install Dependencies

Required:

  • Node.js v16 or higher
  • puppeteer: npm install -g puppeteer

The capture script uses puppeteer's bundled Chromium browser.

Quick Start

Basic single-page screenshot capture:

# 1. Export cookies from your authenticated session
# (Use cookie-editor extension, export as JSON, save as cookies.json)

# 2. Run capture
node scripts/capture.js \
  --cookies cookies.json \
  --url https://dashboard.example.com \
  --mode screenshots

Workflow

Step 1: Authenticate and Export Cookies

  1. Open your browser and navigate to the dashboard
  2. Sign in with your credentials
  3. Click the cookie-editor extension icon
  4. Click "Export" and select "JSON" format
  5. Copy the JSON and save to a file (e.g., cookies.json)

Important: Cookies contain sensitive authentication tokens. Never commit cookie files to version control.

Step 2: Create Configuration File

For advanced usage with crawling, create a config file:

{
  "cookies": "./cookies.json",
  "landing_page": "https://dashboard.example.com",
  "output_dir": "./dashboard-capture",
  "mode": "both",
  "crawl": {
    "enabled": true,
    "max_depth": 2,
    "same_origin_only": true,
    "exclude_patterns": [
      "*logout*",
      "*signout*",
      "*delete*",
      "*remove*",
      "*destroy*"
    ]
  },
  "screenshot": {
    "full_page": true
  },
  "timeout": 30000
}

Step 3: Run Capture Script

With config file:

node scripts/capture.js --config config.json

With command-line arguments:

node scripts/capture.js \
  --cookies cookies.json \
  --url https://dashboard.example.com \
  --mode both \
  --output ./output

What ships with it

4 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

capture-dashboard is a skill published in the GitHub repository valtterimelkko/agent-workflow-skills (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 67 tokens to every session and 2,168 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
