kendex: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/communication/SKILL.md

communication is a skill for Claude Code from vanillagreencom/kendex. It costs 30 tokens per session (424 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for writing messages to people, such as replies, reports, briefings, decision requests, issues, and comments. It chooses different reference material based on the kind of message being written.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for preparing replies, reports, requests for decisions, voice responses, and other messages addressed to a user.
Why use it?
It helps an agent use the right writing guidance before addressing a person and separates human communication from other kinds of text. It does not describe a delivery or messaging service.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00424
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00170
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00042

Security

Grade C, and why

communication scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Hidden instructionshighPrompt injection

Directives inside HTML comments, invisible characters or bidirectional overrides are read by the model and not by the person reviewing the file.

What it actually says

Project Instructions

Problems with a kendex-owned skill go through kendex report; check ownership in the file first.

Communication

Scope

Use this package for messages to a person. Agent-to-agent messages, literal return formats, tool prompts, documentation and text sent as the user follow their own owners. The caller owns authority, delivery and report schedules.

Reading routes

Read messages before every message. Add only the reference the task needs:

Task Read
Request a decision or action questions
Write a report, briefing, work-item description, comment or completion summary reports
Answer a voice request voice

User instruction

For a global install, put this writing reference in the user-scope instruction file:

Before writing a message to a person, read `$HOME/.agents/skills/communication/SKILL.md`.

For a project install, put this writing reference in the project-scope instruction file. The path is relative to the project root:

Before writing a message to a person, read `.agents/skills/communication/SKILL.md`.
Files

What ships with it

4 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

communication is a skill published in the GitHub repository vanillagreencom/kendex (87 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 30 tokens to every session and 424 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (hidden instructions). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-19.
