kendex: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/doc-limits/SKILL.md

doc-limits is a skill for Claude Code from vanillagreencom/kendex. It costs 22 tokens per session (339 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A skill for setting and troubleshooting document size limits measured in bytes.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for checking documents locally or in CI, reviewing the size policy, and managing exceptions.
Why use it?
It helps prevent documents from exceeding a configured limit and gives ways to split, shorten, or explicitly exclude documents that must remain whole.

This is vanillagreencom/kendex's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on kendex itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything kendex configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00022 $0.00339
Opus 5 $0.00011 $0.00169
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00034

Measured today against content hash 13e6f833eca5, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade C, and why

doc-limits scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 5 executable files (scripts/lib/settings.sh, tests/generated-paths.test.sh, tests/settings-and-config.test.sh, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Hidden instructionshighPrompt injection

Directives inside HTML comments, invisible characters or bidirectional overrides are read by the model and not by the person reviewing the file.

Project Instructions

Problems with a kendex-owned skill go through kendex report; check ownership in the file first.

Doc Limits

Run the document byte-ceiling check before review and in CI. The commit-guards pre-commit chain uses the staged mode.

.agents/skills/doc-limits/scripts/doc-limits
.agents/skills/doc-limits/scripts/doc-limits --staged

Split an over-limit document at a natural seam, move detail to a linked reference, or delete content the code or another document already states. A document that must stay whole gets a row in the configured excludes file with its reason. Class selection and the exclusion format are references/policy.md. Flags, settings and exit codes are in doc-limits --help.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

doc-limits is a skill published in the GitHub repository vanillagreencom/kendex (75 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 22 tokens to every session and 339 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (hidden instructions). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-06.
