nestjs-enterprise-backend

nestjs-enterprise-backend is a skill for Claude Code from vaquarkhan/Fullstack-development-agent-skills. It costs 50 tokens per session (538 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of patterns for building NestJS backends, a TypeScript framework for structured server applications. It covers modules, request validation, authentication, database transactions, API documentation, and tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to organize features, validate requests, protect routes, connect TypeORM or Prisma databases, define transactions, document APIs, and test HTTP behavior.
Why use it?
It helps prevent disorganized server code, invalid input, weak access control, leaked secrets, unsafe database changes, and missing end-to-end checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00050 $0.00538
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00215
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00108
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00054

Security

Grade A, and why

nestjs-enterprise-backend scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (examples/bad-example.ts, examples/good-example.ts, templates/create-order.dto.ts), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

NestJS Enterprise Backend

Use When

  • Implementing production NestJS APIs with modular domain boundaries
  • Wiring auth guards, validation pipes, interceptors, and OpenAPI in NestJS
  • Teams need NestJS-specific patterns beyond skills/nodejs-nestjs-backend-microservices

Workflow

  1. Organize feature modules (controller, service, repository/DTO) per domain.
  2. Define DTOs with class-validator; enable global ValidationPipe with whitelist.
  3. Add guards for JWT/API keys; policies via custom decorators or CASL.
  4. Configure TypeORM/Prisma with migrations and transaction boundaries in services.
  5. Document OpenAPI via @ApiTags and generate client SDKs for frontend consumers.
  6. Test with @nestjs/testing unit tests and supertest e2e with test DB.

Required Checks

  • ValidationPipe forbids unknown properties (whitelist + forbidNonWhitelisted)
  • Services own transactions; controllers stay thin
  • ConfigModule loads secrets from env — no secrets in source
  • E2E tests cover auth failure and validation error envelopes

Examples And Templates

See examples/ for side-by-side good vs bad patterns agents commonly get wrong. See templates/ for copy-paste starters aligned with this skill.

Decision Framework

  • Prefer feature modules over god AppModule imports.
  • Use CQRS (@nestjs/cqrs) only when read/write models genuinely diverge.
  • Cache with explicit TTL and invalidation keys — not ad-hoc Map in service.
  • Bull/BullMQ for durable jobs; @Cron only for lightweight schedulers.

Common Rationalizations And Rebuttals

  • "DTOs are optional with TypeScript." -> Runtime validation catches bad clients; use DTOs at boundary.
  • "Prisma in controller is faster." -> Leaks persistence; breaks testing and module boundaries.
  • "Global exception filter later." -> Inconsistent error shapes break API consumers early.

Evidence Pack

  • OpenAPI diff for changed endpoints
  • E2E test output for auth and validation matrix
  • Module dependency graph (no circular imports)
  • Migration script with rollback note

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
