vaadin-java-fullstack-ui

vaadin-java-fullstack-ui is a skill for Claude Code from vaquarkhan/Fullstack-development-agent-skills. It costs 49 tokens per session (564 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for building web interfaces entirely in Java with Vaadin Flow. Vaadin renders the interface from server-side Java code, so the application does not need a separate JavaScript UI framework.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for internal tools, dashboards, administration screens, and business portals with Java views, forms, data grids, and server-side data binding.
Why use it?
It helps Java teams structure views, validation, data loading, accessibility, and session protection consistently. It also keeps business rules out of the user-interface layer.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.00564
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00226
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00113
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

vaadin-java-fullstack-ui scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Vaadin Java Fullstack UI

Use When

  • Building enterprise web UIs with Java only (no React/Angular/Vue in the stack)
  • Internal admin tools, dashboards, or B2B portals need rapid Java-centric delivery
  • Server-driven UI with automatic client sync via Vaadin Flow is acceptable

Workflow

  1. Create @Route views extending VerticalLayout or similar layouts.
  2. Bind UI components to domain data with Binder<T> and validators.
  3. Inject Spring services with @Autowired constructor in @Route views (Spring Boot + Vaadin).
  4. Use lazy loading grids (CallbackDataProvider) for large datasets.
  5. Apply theme and accessibility; test with Vaadin TestBench or component unit tests.

Required Checks

  • No business logic duplicated in UI — delegate to service layer
  • Grids and lists use lazy data providers for tables over ~100 rows
  • Session timeout and CSRF handled per Vaadin + Spring Security integration guide
  • Push enabled only when needed (WebSocket/Long polling) — understand server load

Examples And Templates

See examples/ for side-by-side good vs bad patterns agents commonly get wrong. See templates/ for copy-paste starters aligned with this skill.

Decision Framework

  • Prefer Vaadin when team skill is Java-heavy and UI complexity is forms/grids/wizards.
  • Use Hilla (Vaadin) if lightweight React frontend with Java endpoints is acceptable hybrid.
  • Prefer separate React/Next frontend when SEO, mobile-first consumer UX, or large SPA team exists.
  • Keep view classes thin; reuse components via @Component or composite custom components.

Common Rationalizations And Rebuttals

  • "Vaadin removes need for API layer." -> Still define service boundaries; may expose REST for integrations later.
  • "Load all data in memory for grids." -> Use CallbackDataProvider; server OOM on large tables otherwise.
  • "Skip Spring Security integration." -> Vaadin routes need explicit security config like any web app.

Evidence Pack

  • Route map with roles/permissions per view
  • Binder validation test for critical forms
  • Grid performance note (page size, filter debounce)
  • Screenshot or TestBench run for primary user journeys

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
