sqry-opencode

sqry-opencode is a skill for Claude Code from verivus-oss/sqry. It costs 53 tokens per session (1,639 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A setup and workflow guide for using sqry, a tool that searches code by its structure, with OpenCode. It explains how to install it, index a project, connect it as an MCP server, and troubleshoot it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure semantic code search in OpenCode and find callers, dependencies, and other structural relationships in a codebase.
Why use it?
It avoids relying only on text search when you need to understand how code symbols and their relationships connect.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00053 $0.01639
Opus 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00656
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00328
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00164

Security

Grade C, and why

sqry-opencode scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

sqry for OpenCode

Use this skill to configure OpenCode for sqry v33.0.1 MCP-backed semantic code search.

Setup

Install or upgrade sqry:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/verivus-oss/sqry/main/scripts/install.sh | bash -s -- --component all
sqry --version
sqry-mcp --version
sqry-lsp --version
sqryd --version

Index the project:

cd /path/to/your/project
sqry index .
sqry index --status --json .

OpenCode configures MCP servers in opencode.json or opencode.jsonc under the mcp key, globally at ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json or per project in the repo root (sqry mcp setup has no OpenCode target; write the entry by hand). Local (stdio) servers use a command array:

{
  "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
  "mcp": {
    "sqry": {
      "type": "local",
      "command": ["/absolute/path/to/sqry-mcp", "--no-daemon"],
      "environment": {
        "SQRY_MCP_WORKSPACE_ROOT": "/path/to/your/project"
      },
      "enabled": true
    }
  }
}

Local server options: type ("local", required), command (array, required), environment (object), enabled (boolean), timeout (ms for the tools handshake; default 5000). If sqry's first index or tool listing is slow on a large repo, raise timeout. Omit SQRY_MCP_WORKSPACE_ROOT in the global config when one entry serves several repos; sqry-mcp then resolves the workspace from explicit path arguments, MCP roots, the last-resolved workspace, then the CWD.

Restart OpenCode after editing the config so it reloads MCP servers.

OpenCode also supports Agent Skills natively (see https://opencode.ai/docs/skills/), so this skill set can be installed into OpenCode directly as well as configured as an MCP server.

MCP mode: standalone vs daemon

Default: standalone sqry-mcp --no-daemon. Serves 39 tools, 6 MCP resources (sqry://meta/manifest and sqry://docs/*) and 6 prompts.

Daemon (sqry-mcp --daemon) warms the graph for long sessions but exposes only a 17-tool subset, zero MCP resources and zero prompts: agents cannot read sqry://meta/manifest or docs on the daemon path. Do not configure daemon then instruct reading MCP resources in the same workflow. With no flag at all, sqry-mcp probes for a running sqryd and connects to it when reachable.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

sqry-opencode is a skill published in the GitHub repository verivus-oss/sqry (31 stars, last pushed 10d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 53 tokens to every session and 1,639 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it C with 2 findings (downloads and executes remote code, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-06.
