microsoft-agent-365

microsoft-agent-365 is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from vinayaklatthe/microsoft-security-skills. It costs 175 tokens per session (1,776 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for Microsoft Agent 365, a management system for observing, governing, and securing AI agents from Microsoft and other providers.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps build an inventory, manage agent lifecycles and access controls, and connect agent management with Microsoft Entra, Purview, and Defender.
Why use it?
It helps organisations manage many AI agents consistently instead of handling their identities, access, data, and security separately.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00175 $0.01776
Opus 5 $0.00088 $0.00888
Sonnet 5 $0.00035 $0.00355
Haiku 4.5 $0.00017 $0.00178

Security

Grade A, and why

microsoft-agent-365 scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Managing AI Agents with Microsoft Agent 365

Microsoft Agent 365 is the control plane for agents - it extends the infrastructure you use to manage people (identity, access, data protection, threat defense) to AI agents, regardless of where they originate (Microsoft, Copilot Studio, partner/third-party including agents built on Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or Google Gemini, or custom-built). It organises the work into three pillars: observe, govern, and secure. Generally available for Commercial since 1 May 2026, licensed per user, with Microsoft E5 as the recommended prerequisite.

When to use

Standing up enterprise-wide management for a growing fleet of AI agents - when you need a single inventory, consistent lifecycle and access controls, and unified security across agents built on different platforms. Use it as the orchestration layer that ties together Entra, Purview, and Defender for agents.

Do not use this skill for Purview data-security controls on a single agent in isolation (use purview-agent-365-security), or to remediate Microsoft 365 Copilot oversharing of end-user content (use purview-copilot-oversharing / m365-oversharing).

Pick the right pillar for the problem

Goal Pillar Primary surface
Know how many agents exist, who owns them, how they're used Observe Agent registry + Agent Map in Microsoft 365 admin center
Onboard, approve, review, and retire agents with policy Govern Agent management in M365 admin center + Microsoft Purview
Give each agent a managed identity and risk-based access Secure Microsoft Entra Agent ID + Conditional Access
Stop agents leaking or over-accessing sensitive data Secure Microsoft Purview (DSPM for AI, DLP, sensitivity labels, IRM)
Detect malicious or unsafe agent behaviour at runtime Secure Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (real-time agent protection)

Rule of thumb: treat every agent as a first-class, governed identity - not a feature of an app. The more autonomous the agent, the more it must be managed like a privileged account.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
