windows-11-security-baseline

windows-11-security-baseline is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from vinayaklatthe/microsoft-security-skills. It costs 247 tokens per session (2,337 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for applying Microsoft's Windows 11 enterprise security baseline: a curated set of recommended security settings deployed through Intune or Group Policy.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan and deploy baseline settings across a Windows 11 fleet, including hardware-backed protections and identity safeguards.
Why use it?
It gives teams a consistent starting point for hardening Windows devices and helps them roll out protections such as Secure Boot, TPM, virtualization-based security, and Credential Guard.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00247 $0.02337
Opus 5 $0.00123 $0.01169
Sonnet 5 $0.00049 $0.00467
Haiku 4.5 $0.00025 $0.00234

Security

Grade A, and why

windows-11-security-baseline scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Windows 11 Security Baseline

The Windows 11 security baseline is Microsoft's curated set of recommended security settings — hundreds of policies vetted for both security value and compatibility. The baseline is delivered as Intune security baselines (settings catalog edition) or GPO templates from the Microsoft Security Compliance Toolkit.

This skill covers what to enable, the Windows 11-specific controls (LAPS, VBS/HVCI, Credential Guard, Smart App Control, PDE), and the rollout pattern.

When to use

Hardening a Windows 11 fleet with Intune (or GPO for legacy estates), with focus on the hardware-rooted and identity-protection capabilities specific to modern Windows.

Do not use this skill for MDE policy authoring (defender-for-endpoint), generic Intune device management (intune-device-mgmt), or BitLocker-only design (bitlocker-design).

Core controls — turn on, in this order

Control Why first
Tamper Protection (MDE) Without it, all other controls are advisory
Secure Boot + TPM 2.0 Foundation for VBS/HVCI/Credential Guard; required for Win11
VBS / HVCI / Memory Integrity Kernel-mode code integrity in a hypervisor-isolated container
Credential Guard LSASS isolation; defeats most credential-theft tooling
LSA protection Prevents non-protected processes from injecting into LSASS
BitLocker Disk encryption with TPM-bound startup
Personal Data Encryption (PDE) Per-file encryption tied to user sign-in (kicks in after first sign-in)
Windows Hello for Business Replaces password-based local sign-in
Windows LAPS (modern) Local admin password rotation, Entra-backed
Smart App Control Default-deny code execution on clean-installed Win11
WDAC / App Control for Business Mature app-control on managed estate
Controlled Folder Access + Exploit Protection ASR-adjacent host hardening
Removable storage policies USB exfil control

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
