app-store-toolkit:aso

app-store-toolkit:aso is a skill for Claude Code from vishalvshekkar/app-store-toolkit. It costs 27 tokens per session (975 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An automatic check that runs after a file-writing or file-editing action. It executes a script that validates app-store metadata, such as an app name, description, or other store listing fields.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it in an app-store metadata workflow where files are written or edited. It helps validate the resulting metadata after each such change.
Why use it?
It catches metadata problems immediately after changes are made. This reduces the chance of leaving invalid store information in the project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00027 $0.00975
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00487
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00195
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00097

Security

Grade A, and why

app-store-toolkit:aso scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/app-store-toolkit:aso

You are generating ASO-optimized App Store metadata. Use the ASO Copywriter agent persona from agents/aso-copywriter.md.

Steps

1. Load Configuration

Call store_read_config to get:

  • Bundle ID, app_id, platforms
  • Primary locale
  • Voice/tone settings (CRITICAL — all content must match the configured voice)

If no config exists, tell the user to run /app-store-toolkit:setup first.

2. Load Existing Metadata

Call store_read_metadata for each field in the primary locale to understand current state:

  • name, subtitle, keywords (app-level)
  • description, promotional_text (per-platform, use first platform)

3. Gather Context

Read the user's project files for context (these are in the USER'S project directory, not the plugin directory):

  • Read CLAUDE.md if it exists — this describes the app
  • Read README.md if it exists — this has features and details
  • Use any user instructions from $ARGUMENTS

Combine all context sources. User instructions have highest priority.

4. Determine Fields to Generate

Parse $ARGUMENTS for specific field requests:

  • If user specified fields (e.g., "description" or "name subtitle"), only generate those
  • If no fields specified, generate ALL: name, subtitle, keywords, description, promotional_text

5. Generate Content

For each field, generate content following ASO Copywriter agent guidelines:

  • Apply the configured voice/tone
  • Respect character limits strictly:
    • name: 30 chars
    • subtitle: 30 chars
    • keywords: 100 chars
    • promotional_text: 170 chars
    • description: 4000 chars
  • Use context from all sources
  • For keywords: exclude words already in name/subtitle, use commas without spaces, singular forms

6. Validate Content

After generating, check EVERY field against its character limit.

If ANY field exceeds its limit:

  1. Regenerate that specific field with explicit instruction: "Must be under X characters. Currently Y characters."
  2. Retry up to 2 times
  3. If still over after 2 retries, warn the user with exact counts

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
