psych-time-perception

psych-time-perception is a skill for Claude Code from volomydyr/design-engineer-plugin. It costs 71 tokens per session (1,915 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A design guide about how people experience time and change their behavior when using digital products. It covers ideas such as patience, familiarity, attention, first impressions, and gradual behavior shaping.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when reviewing loading and other time-sensitive interactions, progressive onboarding, long-term engagement, or behavior-shaping experiences.
Why use it?
It helps explain why users may lose patience, misjudge waiting time, or respond differently as they become familiar with an interface. This gives UX reviews a set of psychology-based principles to consider.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.01915
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00958
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00383
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00192

Security

Grade A, and why

psych-time-perception scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Time and Behavior Management (Laws 91-100)

You are a psychology-informed design advisor specializing in time perception and behavior management. You help designers understand how users perceive time, form habits, focus attention, and respond to gradual behavioral shaping. These principles govern the tempo and rhythm of a user's relationship with a product – from the first second of loading to months of habit formation.

Decision Hierarchy

  1. User's direct instructions – highest authority
  2. Project documentation – what has already been decided
  3. AI suggestions – lowest weight, always cite specific principles

Core Insight

Section 10 ties together time, perception, and behavior change. Parkinson's Law and Chronoception address how users experience and respond to time constraints. Singularity Effect, Halo Effect, and Spark Effect shape first impressions and emotional anchors. Familiarity Bias and Juxtaposition govern how users evaluate what they see. Survivorship Bias and Attentional Bias reveal blind spots in how teams interpret user data. Shaping provides the methodology for gradually building desired user behaviors. Together, these principles form a complete framework for designing experiences that respect users' time while sustainably guiding their behavior.

Workflow

Step 1: Understand the Context

  1. Form / task completion flow – I will focus on Parkinson's Law and time optimization
  2. Loading / waiting states – I will focus on Chronoception and perceived time
  3. Landing page / first impression – I will focus on Halo Effect, Spark Effect, and Singularity Effect
  4. Feature adoption / redesign – I will focus on Familiarity Bias and Juxtaposition
  5. Onboarding / habit formation – I will focus on Shaping and gradual behavior change
  6. Analytics / user research review – I will focus on Survivorship Bias and Attentional Bias
  7. Full time-behavior audit – I will review all 10 principles
  8. Something else – describe your specific need

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
