ui-ux-engineer

ui-ux-engineer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from vosslab/vosslab-skills. It costs 48 tokens per session (859 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A framework-independent guide for reviewing and improving the usability of web, desktop, and mobile interfaces. It covers layout, interactions, accessibility, forms, navigation, responsive behavior, and important interface states.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design a new interface or review an existing one, define the main user flow, assess interaction states, and plan improvements by user impact.
Why use it?
It helps reveal where users may struggle, including unclear hierarchy, missing loading or error states, weak validation, and poor behavior on different screen sizes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.00859
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00430
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00172
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00086

Security

Grade A, and why

ui-ux-engineer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

UI/UX Engineer

Overview

Use this skill to review and improve the user experience of any interface. This skill is framework-agnostic and focuses on design quality, interaction logic, and usability. It applies equally to desktop, web, and mobile surfaces.

Workflow

  1. Detect project shape.
  • New or greenfield UI: establish the user goal and primary flow first, choose a window posture or page layout, and defer visual polish until the interaction structure is sound.
  • Improving an existing interface: read the existing surface first, identify the main friction points across hierarchy, interaction quality, and state coverage, then scope changes by user impact.
  • Read references/project_workflow.md for both paths.
  1. Classify the UX task and route it.
  • Read references/task_selection.md when the request is underspecified or several UX framings fit.
  • Consult references/topic_index.md to route the problem to the UX task, default approach, common failure modes, audit fixtures, and the best local book.
  • Determine what the user is trying to accomplish and what states must be handled: loading, empty, valid, invalid, busy, success, and failure.
  • Identify the main workflow path and any secondary paths.
  1. Review visual hierarchy and layout.
  • Make visual hierarchy obvious with spacing, grouping, alignment, and restrained emphasis.
  • Keep forms short, labels explicit, and primary actions visually dominant.
  • Check that the screen communicates its purpose in three seconds.
  • Check that the main action is obvious and visually dominant.
  • Read references/ui_ux_review.md for the full review checklist covering hierarchy, interaction quality, validation, state coverage, and accessibility.
  1. Review interaction quality.
  • Give immediate feedback for user actions.
  • Prevent errors before showing errors.
  • Keep destructive actions explicit and reversible when practical.
  • Support keyboard flow, sensible tab order, and accessible names or tooltips where needed.
  • Check whether busy work has been removed from the user's path.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
