tally-mind

tally-mind is a skill for Claude Code from Wadhawnaiya/TallyMind. It costs 45 tokens per session (469 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A connection that lets Claude work with TallyPrime, accounting software used to manage company financial records. It can check the connection, read company data and reports, and prepare guarded changes to ledgers or vouchers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect ledgers, vouchers, balance sheets, profit and loss, trial balances, day books, stock summaries, or GST summaries, and to preview and confirm ledger or voucher changes.
Why use it?
It reduces the need to switch between Claude and TallyPrime for routine checks. Changes require a preview and a separate confirmation, helping prevent accidental edits.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.00469
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00234
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00094
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

tally-mind scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

TallyMind

Connects Claude to TallyPrime's HTTP/XML gateway. Requires TallyPrime open on the same Windows machine, with a company loaded and F1 > Settings > Connectivity > Client/Server enabled (default port 9000).

First step, every session

Call tally_doctor before anything else. It reports whether the gateway is reachable, whether a company is loaded, and reminds you to confirm this is not the Educational edition (which silently truncates date ranges).

Reading data

list_companies, list_ledgers (pass query for fuzzy name search, e.g. "VRO" finds "VRO Technology"), list_vouchers, get_balance_sheet, get_profit_and_loss, get_trial_balance, get_day_book, get_stock_summary. GST tools (get_gstr1_summary, get_gstr3b_summary) are best-effort — Tally does not publicly document these report names over XML; cross-check against Tally's own GST screens.

Writing data — always two steps

  1. preview_ledger_change or preview_voucher — builds the XML, returns a preview_id. Nothing is sent to Tally yet.
  2. confirm_import with that exact preview_id — only this call mutates Tally. A preview_id can only be confirmed once.

Never call confirm_import without first showing the user the preview's description and getting their explicit go-ahead — this mirrors the --apply --yes safety gate used elsewhere in this user's Tally tooling.

Switching connection or company

set_connection(host, port) if Tally isn't on localhost:9000. set_company(name) to set the default company for subsequent calls.

Professional guardrail

Output from writes is a review-ready change, not a substitute for a qualified Chartered Accountant's review before anything is posted for compliance or client reporting purposes.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

tally-mind is a skill published in the GitHub repository Wadhawnaiya/TallyMind (4 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 45 tokens to every session and 469 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
