harness-compatibility-protocol

harness-compatibility-protocol is a skill for Claude Code from wahidyankf/ose-public. It costs 33 tokens per session (1,187 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A compatibility protocol for checking and safely fixing differences between repository harnesses and their expected behaviour.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check parity invariants, investigate seven kinds of external drift, delegate quality-gate checks, and produce confidence and fix reports.
Why use it?
It separates repeatable local checks from changes that need research or human judgement, reducing accidental fixes when external behaviour has changed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.01187
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00475
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00237
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00119

Security

Grade A, and why

harness-compatibility-protocol scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Overview

Two agents share one taxonomy: deterministic and semantic Phase 0 parity invariants (offline, Bash-based) and seven Phase 1 external-drift dimensions (web-research-backed). The checker detects; the fixer remediates what's safely mechanical and flags the rest for human judgment.

Reference Modules

Core Principles

  1. Phase 0 leaves declared tools their properties. Under the quality gate, vendor terms and adapter generation belong to governance-vendor and harness-adapters, never to findings; unregistered semantic parity still runs.
  2. Only Invariant 3 (binding sync) and most Phase 1 dimensions auto-fix — anything touching governance prose, root-instruction files, agent-set divergence, or a new color/tier mapping requires human judgment.
  3. Confidence propagates from the checker's cited source: [Verified] → HIGH, [Needs Verification]/[Unverified] → MEDIUM (fixer downgrades and skips), [Outdated] → FALSE_POSITIVE.
  4. Conservative drift threshold — flag substantive changes only (a different filename, a renamed directory, a removed required field), never minor wording differences.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

harness-compatibility-protocol is a skill published in the GitHub repository wahidyankf/ose-public (12 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 33 tokens to every session and 1,187 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-14.
