programming-javascript

programming-javascript is a skill for Claude Code from wahidyankf/ose-public. It costs 48 tokens per session (1,005 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A JavaScript development guide for applying a project's JavaScript rules while changing code. It covers type checking through JSDoc comments, input validation, promises, and error handling.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding or changing JavaScript, especially code that uses asynchronous operations or external input. It helps run type checks, linting, formatting checks, and tests before handoff.
Why use it?
It reduces bugs caused by files that are not checked, missing type information, ignored invalid input, unfinished asynchronous work, or swallowed errors. It also checks the untouched project before changes begin.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.01005
Opus 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00402
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00201
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00101

Security

Grade A, and why

programming-javascript scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

JavaScript Programming

Every JavaScript rule is owned by JavaScript Standards. Test-Driven Development and Test Boundaries and Gates govern tests and gates, Red, Green, Refactor runs each cycle, and Developing Applications carries the judgement that holds in every language. This skill adds only the procedure and judgement of applying them in JavaScript. Where a sentence here seems to state a rule, the standard decides.

Start From What the Project Records

  1. Find how the file is checked. Read the compiler configuration and, under per-file checking, the top of the file. A file you are about to change that nobody checks is a finding to raise before you add to it.
  2. Compare the configuration with the standard. A relaxed option or a lint rule switched off is not a baseline to copy into new code.
  3. Run the type check, lint, format check, and tests on the untouched tree. A gate already failing is handled under Preexisting Error Resolution.
  4. List the increments, each one observable behaviour, simplest first, including every expected failure path.

Type Through JSDoc as You Write

Write the JSDoc for a function before its body: the parameter and return types, and the failures it can report. A function whose types are hard to write usually takes a shape that is not yet decided, and settling it now is cheaper than after several callers depend on it. Run the type check as part of each green, not only at the end.

When the checker rejects a change, fix the code. Reaching for an expected-error directive means the design needs attention, and the directive, when truly warranted, carries the reason the standard asks for.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

programming-javascript is a skill published in the GitHub repository wahidyankf/ose-public (12 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 48 tokens to every session and 1,005 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-14.
