oz-skills: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/terraform-style-check/SKILL.md

terraform-style-check is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from warpdotdev/oz-skills. It costs 32 tokens per session (1,906 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Terraform code-writing guide based on HashiCorp's official style conventions. Terraform is a language for describing infrastructure, such as cloud services, in configuration files.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps write Terraform with version constraints, provider settings, data sources, resources, variables, outputs, and local values arranged in a recommended file structure and dependency order.
Why use it?
It helps keep infrastructure files organized and consistent, reducing confusion when configurations are generated, reviewed, or maintained.

This is warpdotdev/oz-skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on oz-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything oz-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00032 $0.01906
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00953
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00381
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00191

Measured 10d ago against content hash 9d4f641373b5, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

terraform-style-check scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Generate and maintain Terraform code following HashiCorp's official style conventions and best practices.

Code Generation Strategy

When generating Terraform code:

  1. Start with provider configuration and version constraints
  2. Create data sources before dependent resources
  3. Build resources in dependency order
  4. Add outputs for key resource attributes
  5. Use variables for all configurable values

File Organization

File Purpose
terraform.tf Terraform and provider version requirements
providers.tf Provider configurations
main.tf Primary resources and data sources
variables.tf Input variable declarations (alphabetical)
outputs.tf Output value declarations (alphabetical)
locals.tf Local value declarations

Example Structure

# terraform.tf
terraform {
  required_version = ">= 1.7"

  required_providers {
    aws = {
      source  = "hashicorp/aws"
      version = "~> 5.0"
    }
  }
}

# variables.tf
variable "environment" {
  description = "Target deployment environment"
  type        = string

  validation {
    condition     = contains(["dev", "staging", "prod"], var.environment)
    error_message = "Environment must be dev, staging, or prod."
  }
}

# locals.tf
locals {
  common_tags = {
    Environment = var.environment
    ManagedBy   = "Terraform"
  }
}

# main.tf
resource "aws_vpc" "main" {
  cidr_block           = var.vpc_cidr
  enable_dns_hostnames = true

  tags = merge(local.common_tags, {
    Name = "${var.project_name}-${var.environment}-vpc"
  })
}

# outputs.tf
output "vpc_id" {
  description = "ID of the created VPC"
  value       = aws_vpc.main.id
}

Code Formatting

Indentation and Alignment

  • Use two spaces per nesting level (no tabs)
  • Align equals signs for consecutive arguments
resource "aws_instance" "web" {
  ami           = "ami-0c55b159cbfafe1f0"

  tags = {

    Environment = "production"
  }
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

terraform-style-check is a skill published in the GitHub repository warpdotdev/oz-skills (824 stars, last pushed 24d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 1,906 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
