release

release is a skill for Claude Code from wavyrai/tmux-ide. It costs 71 tokens per session (1,850 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release workflow for publishing Herdr GPUI through its update channels and Homebrew. It checks repository and branch conditions, runs the release process, and covers local verification and hardware-backed signing.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for preparing, dispatching, verifying, approving, and signing a Herdr GPUI release when the developer has requested one.
Why use it?
It prevents a release from being dispatched when required repository conditions are not met and documents steps that automation cannot perform alone.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/.

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is just release # -> bash scripts/release/dispatch.sh.

It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.01850
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00740
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00370
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00185

Measured 2d ago against content hash a7e99ee8d117, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

release scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 170 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Releasing herdr-gpui

The owner has given standing authorization to approve the release run's protected environments when they ask for a release. Do not wait to be asked again per run. Everything else on this page still applies: the preconditions are hard gates, and the local GPG step needs a physical YubiKey tap that only the owner can give.

Releases go out to real users through the in-app updater and Homebrew. Never dispatch one that was not asked for.

Choose the version? No.

You do not pick a version and you cannot. The workflow derives vYYYYMMDD.COUNTER from today's UTC date and the tags already published. A second release on the same day becomes .2, then .3. Do not invent a tag, do not pass one, and do not create a tag locally.

Dispatch

just release          # -> bash scripts/release/dispatch.sh

dispatch.sh refuses unless every one of these holds. Check them first so a failure is not a surprise:

Precondition Command
Working tree clean including untracked files git status --porcelain --untracked-files=all
On main git symbolic-ref --quiet --short HEAD
origin is penso/herdr-gpui git remote get-url origin
gh authenticated as penso gh api user --jq .login
Local HEAD == origin/main on GitHub compare git rev-parse HEAD with gh api repos/penso/herdr-gpui/git/ref/heads/main --jq .object.sha

The script never fetches or checks out for you: if HEAD does not match, stop and tell the owner rather than pulling on their behalf.

Untracked files block a release. If you have added files to the repo (a skill, a scratch script), they must be committed or ignored before just release will run.

Show the owner what is about to ship before dispatching. just changelog-unreleased is the same text users will read on the release page; the raw log is the fallback when git-cliff is not installed locally:

just changelog-unreleased # only the commits since the last tag
just changelog # the whole generated changelog
just changelog-release 20260920.3 out/ # exactly the two files CI publishes
git log --oneline "$(gh api repos/penso/herdr-gpui/releases/latest --jq .tag_name)"..HEAD

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

release is a skill published in the GitHub repository wavyrai/tmux-ide (550 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 71 tokens to every session and 1,850 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-15.
