In plain words
What is it for?

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00073 $0.01441
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00720
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00288
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00144

Security

Grade A, and why

finance-search scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Answer finance questions using ONLY the money-manager MCP tools (search, summary, trends, merchants, duplicates, compare, recurring, receipts, categories, accounts, backup_status, receipt_text_search, receipt_text, receipt_regex). Never guess numbers and never compute totals yourself from transaction lists.

Tool selection

  • Totals / "how much" / comparisonssummary with the right group_by (category | subcategory | account | month) and filters. NEVER sum transactions in-context from a long search listing — summary aggregates in SQL.
  • "Show me" / "find" / "when did I"search with text, category, account, date, kind, or amount filters. It also returns matched and total_amount for the full filter, beyond the listed page.
  • "What did I buy at X" / line items / anything about receipt contentsreceipt_text_search for the query (Chinese works directly), then receipt_text on the matched file for the full OCR text. Present line items as an itemized table.
  • "Which shops / how often"merchants (spend-ranked). "Before vs after X"compare with two date ranges. Subscriptions / regular paymentsrecurring. Garbled brand namesreceipt_regex after receipt_text_search misses.
  • Unknown category/account namescategories / accounts first, then filter with the exact names.
  • Multi-currency: summary returns by_currency + a warning when filters mix currencies — report per-currency, never a mixed total.
  • Ambiguous or surprising resultsbackup_status to check data freshness and date coverage before answering.

Answer contract (every answer, no exceptions)

  1. State the exact date range, currency, and filters applied — e.g. "2024-01-01 to 2024-01-31, USD, kind=expense, category=Groceries".
  2. Cite source transactions for every claim: date, amount, account, and tx_uid (a short table for the top contributors is ideal).
  3. Note that deleted transactions are excluded (the tools filter ZISDEL=0).
  4. Caveat when OCR text looks unreliable, category is missing/(none), or the newest backup predates the period asked about.
  5. Amounts are reported as stored (ZAMOUNT); cross-account totals involving transfers may double-count — caveat if transfers are in scope.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
