dmr-openapi-skeleton

dmr-openapi-skeleton is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from wemake-services/django-modern-rest. It costs 97 tokens per session (3,027 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An API scaffolding tool that turns an OpenAPI 3.1 or newer document into starter code for django-modern-rest, a Django framework for building web APIs. It creates typed data objects, request handlers, URL routes, documentation wiring, and minimal tests without business logic.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to start a django-modern-rest API from an OpenAPI file, URL, or pasted document. It helps place generated files in the project and preserve the specification's public API contract.
Why use it?
It removes the repetitive work of translating an API specification into Django transport code. It also flags specifications that are too old, incomplete, or unclear before generating files.

About the project

django-modern-rest is a typed REST framework for Django, the Python web framework, for building APIs that exchange data with clients over HTTP. It is for Django developers who need asynchronous support, schema validation, multiple data formats, and generated OpenAPI descriptions. The catalogue add-ons provide plugins and skills for developing with the framework.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00097 $0.03027
Opus 5.5 $0.00039 $0.01211
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00605
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00303

Security

Grade A, and why

dmr-openapi-skeleton scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

`minimal-working` mode: generate minimal passthrough parser and renderer placeholders so endpoints stay callable with curl while still marked as TODO.

DMR OpenAPI Skeleton

Overview

Generate runnable transport-layer skeletons for django-modern-rest from OpenAPI 3.1+ specifications. Keep the output intentionally thin: produce typed DTOs, base controllers, routers, docs wiring, and minimal tests, with zero business logic by default.

Use the repository examples under django_test_app/server/apps/* and tests/* as the local source of truth. Read references/framework-patterns.md when choosing dmr constructs, references/project-map.md when deciding where generated files should live, and references/spec-fidelity.md whenever a source OpenAPI document is authoritative and the generated project should preserve the public contract closely enough for a useful boilerplate.

Primary framework documentation:

Workflow

Read the specification first

  • Read the provided OpenAPI document before editing code.
  • Confirm that openapi is 3.1.x or newer. If the document is older, ambiguous, or incomplete, say so before generating files.
  • Extract tags, path groups, operation IDs, parameters, request bodies, response codes, reusable schemas, and security declarations.
  • Detect difficult constructs early: oneOf, anyOf, allOf, discriminators, multiple media types, callbacks, and webhook sections.

Enter spec-fidelity mode when the source spec is authoritative

  • If the user provides an existing OpenAPI document and expects the generated project to reproduce it, treat spec fidelity as a first-class requirement.
  • Compare the source spec against the built schema after generation whenever both artifacts are available.
  • Do not silently normalize paths, drop tags, collapse media types to JSON, or replace source metadata with framework defaults.
  • When dmr adds framework-native documentation that is not present in the source spec, either disable it or tell the user explicitly.
  • Default objective in this mode is close public-contract parity for a runnable skeleton, not literal identity of every generated component schema.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

dmr-openapi-skeleton is a skill published in the GitHub repository wemake-services/django-modern-rest (1,519 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 97 tokens to every session and 3,027 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-26.
