Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00112 | $0.00654 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00045 | $0.00262 |

Grade A, and why
rewrite scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 41 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
/rewrite — the anti-slop pass
Every command here is a door: npx thetacog-mcp <door>, run from the root of the repo you are working in. Nothing names a path on
one machine.
On invocation
- Resolve the target to one existing file. When the user named none, use the file they are editing or the draft just written. Ask only when two files fit equally.
- Run the dry-run pass:
npx thetacog-mcp rewrite --file <path> --tracks C,D --limit 10
--tracks C,Duses the cloud writer (claude -p, the same login /steer uses). Tracks A and B are the local writer and need ollama withqwen2.5:7b; add them only whenollama listshows that model.--from L120or--from 40%or--from "<phrase>"starts the scan partway into a long file.--limit Ncaps the cold sentences worked (default 15). Short, high-stakes text (a message, an intro) is where it pays most.
- The report lands in
.thetacog/rewrite/reports/<file>-<stamp>.html. Open it (open <report>on macOS) and read the top card per cold sentence back to the user: the sentence, the winning candidate, and what it removed. - Apply a candidate only when the user picks it. Edit the file yourself with the chosen line and commit it as one change.
--applycommits every top candidate unattended; never pass it unless the user asks for exactly that.
What the report is sufficient for, and what it is not
- Sufficient for: where a reader's comprehension broke, which lines carry hedges, filler or narrator-voice meta, and whether a candidate removed slop without adding words. The slop score is a pattern match a person can read and re-run to the same number.
- Not sufficient for: whether the text is true, or whether the rewrite keeps the author's meaning. Check each picked line against the original before it lands.
When it cannot run
claudenot on PATH: say so and stop. The cloud tracks are the writer.- A file with no prose paragraphs (code, JSON) reports zero cards. Say that it holds no prose; do not widen the scan.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

rewrite is a skill published in the GitHub repository wiber/thetacog-mcp (1 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 112 tokens to every session and 654 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-06.
